Department of Sociology

SOCIOLOGY IS THE SYSTEMATIC STUDY OF SOCIETY, ALL SOCIETIES

Walkway Between Clark and Library

A sociology major provides an opportunity for a student to acquire a quality liberal arts education with a focus on the concepts and research methodologies used to understand patterns of social bonds via the disciplined study of social interactions, groups, organizations, institutions, communities, whole societies, and the global community.

  • We offer several curricular tracks for achieving a Bachelor of Arts degree: general sociology and criminology/criminal justice.
  • At the graduate level we offer both Masters of Arts and Ph.D. degrees.

All of our faculty contribute to the department's historic strength and commitment to sociological inquiry on social change and development.
