MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH (MPH)

Overview
The Masters of Public Health (MPH) is the primary professional degree in the field of public health.  The MPH degree is intended for students who plan careers as practitioners and leaders in one or more of the core areas in public health.  Core academic public health areas include biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental health sciences, health services administration, and social and behavioral sciences.
The program is one component of the Colorado School of Public Health which is a cooperative program between the University of Colorado Denver, Colorado State University, and the University of Northern Colorado.  This school provides training, innovative research and community service to actively address public health issues, including chronic disease, access to health care, environmental threats, emerging infectious diseases and costly injuries.
The Colorado School of Public Health is the first and only school of public health in the Rocky Mountain Region, attracting top tier faculty and students from across the country, and providing a vital contribution towards ensuring our region’s health and well-being.
CSU faculty from the Department of Clinical Sciences , Environmental and  Radiological Health Sciences , Food Science and Human Nutrition , Health and Exercise Science , Psychology,  Journalism and Technical Communication, and Ethnic Studies are involved in the Master of Public Health program.

Accreditation
The Colorado School of Public Health expects to receive accreditation in 2010, although the Master of Public Health programs on each campus are already accredited programs.  The accrediting body is the Council on Education for Public Health.  The Colorado School of Public Health has already received Associate Member status from the Association of Schools of Public Health.
