My academic interests include contemporary Latin-American poetry and Cinema, post-dictatorial literature and criticism, and Marxist theory. My dissertation focused on how literary criticism enlightens our understanding of the relationship between aesthetics and politics, examining Chilean post-dictatorial criticism and fiction, such as poetry, films and novels.

My teaching experience, as a graduate included all levels of the Spanish language. At the University of Missouri, Columbia I taught Advanced Spanish Composition, Introduction to Literature, and an upper level class of Contemporary Spanish American Culture and Civilization. At Colorado State University I teach Languages, Culture, and Latin-American poetry.
