My academic interests include contemporary Latin-American poetry and Cinema, post-dictatorial literature and criticism, and (post)Marxist theory. My dissertation focused on how literary criticism enlightens our understanding of the relationship between aesthetics and politics, examining Chilean postdictatorial criticism and fiction, such as poetry, films and novels.

My teaching experience, as a graduate student at Washington University, included all levels of the Spanish language. At the University of Missouri , Columbia I taught Advanced Spanish Composition, Introduction to Literature, and an upper level class of Contemporary Spanish American Culture and Civilization. At CSU I teach Culture classes, Avant-garde Latin-American poetry, and Latin-American post dictatorial literature.
