Spring Semester 2010

Welcome Back!

1. Congratulation to Ana Fairchild! She received the 2009 College of Liberal Arts Excellence in Teaching Award for Temporary/Special Faculty. Read on to learn more about Ana.

I was born in Mexico City and lived there until I was 18. I moved to the United Stated to study music and received a bachelors degree in music performance and Spanish literature in 1988. After a couple of years of working for an airline, I returned to graduate school. I earned an MA from CSU in Spanish literature in 1992. After one year of doctoral courses at Kansas University, I returned to CSU to teach. I have been teaching here (2 years as a GTA 1990-1992) and then since the Fall of 1993. I earned an MBA from Regis University in 2000. Throughout the many years I have been here, I have taught beginning, intermediate and advanced Spanish courses. In the more recent years I have been teaching the Spanish for business and the composition classes.

During the Fall semester of 2009 I was awarded the College of Liberal Arts “Excellence in Teaching” award

I have been dancing flamenco for 14 years and thanks to a grant from the Lilla B. Morgan foundation, which was awarded also in the fall semester of 2009, I will be bringing a flamenco troup to perform at the Lory Student Center Theatre on April 10 th and 11 th of 2010.

2. Congratulations also to Colin Fain, a student in the Russian program, who was awarded the Gilmore Scholarship!
