Ward Swinson
Emeritus Associate Professor. B.A., English, Northwestern
University; M.A., Ph.D., English, University of Illinois.
Professor Swinson taught classes on major authors,
20th-century British fiction and European literature, modern
poetry, and introduction to poetry. He specializes in twentieth-century
literature, with particular emphasis on the major figures
of literary modernism. He has published a number of articles
on James Joyce and Vladimir Nabokov and (with Carol
Cantrell)
a monograph on Ezra Pound's China-Adams Cantos. He is currently
working on a series of articles on the appropriation of
English and American literature in Pale Fire.
