Ron's off station projects include advising in the establishment and research on organic farming systems. He is currently involved in the organic farming system project at La Boca Center for Sustainability ( http://www.laboca.org/ ) near Ignacio, CO and is advising on the reestablishment an organic farming system for production of traditional Native American crops at the Tesuque Pueblo, Tesuque, NM (http://www.indianpueblo.org/ipcc/tesuquepage.htm ).

Ron's other current projects include:

- production of no-till drip irrigated organic soybeans for feed

- organic seed production methods for edible dry and green beans

- organic hops variety and production trials

- effects of compost and irrigation water acidificationon soil quality and sweet corn production

- cover crop rotations for improving soil fertility and weed control in organic farming systems.

Ron is a regular invited speaker at organic conferences in Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada and speaks on organic farming systems.

Ron received a B.S. and M.S. in Soil and Water Science, from the University of Arizona. He obtained his doctorate from CSU in Soil and Crop Sciences with an emphasis in soil fertility and crop nutrition. Ron has research experience with organic tree fruit and vegetable crops, and has extensive experience in salinity management.
