Research interests center on transformation of grasses with an emphasis on wheat and turfgrasses. Current work emphasizes regenerating systems for these species and beginning experiments on the use of the gene gun for transformation using the GUS marker gene. An ultimate goal is to transform these species with genes for resistance to diseases and insect pests.
