Research interests are to use molecular tools to determine genetic control of quantitative trait inheritance in crops important to Colorado agriculture. Specific objectives are: (1) to locate and characterize quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for heat and drought tolerance in spring and winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.); (2) to locate and characterize QTLs for resistance to Fusarium wilt in dry beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.); and (3) as an adjunct to the previous project, to determine the genetic relatedness of isolates of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. phaseoli and betae, collected from bean and sugarbeet fields in Colorado and adjacent states.
