Fellowships and Grants*
2003-2004
A
catalyst for advancing women's educational and career opportunities, the
American Association of University Women Educational Foundation distributed
$4 million in fellowships, grants and awards for the 2002-2003 academic
year. More than a century after the first grant was presented, the Foundation
has helped approximately 8,000 women form more than 120 nations pursue
their personal and professional goals.
To qualify for a fellowship or grant, applicants must demonstrate scholarly
or professional excellence as described in the program criteria. Preference
is given to women whose civic, community, or professional work shows a
commitment to advancing the lives of women and girls. In 2002-2003, nearly
300 outstanding women received Foundation funding. Thirty percent of those
(not including International Fellows) were women of color. The Foundation
strongly encourages women from all underrepresented groups to apply.
