Employment Positions Rural
Clinician/Advocate The person in this position is responsible for providing Eastern El Paso County domestic violence and/or sexual assault victims with advocacy, information and referrals, education, support and counseling (therapy). S/he is also responsible for increasing community awareness on the issue of domestic violence and child maltreatment. The position is located in Calhan but will be supervised by T·E·S·S·A's main office Director of Clinical Services. Responsibilities: Provide crisis intervention, information, referrals, and support in person and on the phone. Explains legal process and options to clients, including information on securing a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO). Facilitates victim support groups, if established. Provides training, instruction, guidance and support to community members, volunteers and interns. Keeps updated and appropriately documented client files. Collects and compiles monthly client statistics for inclusion in the overall Advocacy statistics. Collaborates with partner organizations in serving the Eastern El Paso community, particularly Pikes Peak Community Action Agency and the Department of Human Services Requirements: Master's degree in counseling, psychology, or social work; Colorado licensure preferred. Knowledge of Domestic Violence issues, experience working confidential advocacy preferred. Preferably a resident of Eastern El Paso county. Good communication, interpersonal skills, and collaboration. Comfortable working autonomously. Available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Prefer Spanish speaking. Must have reliable transportation, and telephone, valid driver's license and proof of 300/100 liability on car insurance. Safehouse
Support Staff The person in this position provides Safehouse coverage due to illness or vacation of regularly scheduled staff on an as needed basis; therefore, must be available on short notice. Responsibilities: Crisisline intervention, information, referrals and support of domestic violence or sexual assault victims in person and on the phone. Support Safehouse clients through intake interviews and evaluations. Provide transportation when necessary and possible. Log data pertinent to crisis calls. Hours: Part-time (as needed, 0 - 40/hrs wk). No benefits. Looking for daytime and weekend coverage. Requirements: High school diploma; BA/BS preferred. Combinations of education and relevant work experience may be considered. Experience with victims and/or similar populations preferred. Available to work weekends, evenings, some holidays, and overnights. Must be available on short notice. Must have a valid driver's license and car insurance with 100/300 liability minimum. Professor of Women's Studies The University of Northern Arizona invites applications for an entry-level tenure-eligible assistant professor position in Women's Studies. The position will begin in August 2005 and may include teaching courses in another department or discipline. Minimum requirements include a Ph.D in Women's Studies or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant field (such as Anthropology. History, Political Science, English, Native American Studies). The Ph.D must be completed by August 1, 2005. Also desired from the candidate is a background in interdisciplinary training in tehory and methodology, and the potential to contribute to feminist scholarship. The position requires an ability to teach introductory Women's Studies courses, feminist theories and methodologies at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and courses in race and ethnic diversity (global and local perspectives). Preferene will be given to candidates who have a strong research (and teaching) interests in one or more of the following: Islamic feminism; sexuality (lesbian/gay/bisexual/trtansgender/queer theory).
