The Office of Women's Programs and Studies provides information,
services, and programs with women and gender as the focus. The
office serves all students - undergraduate and graduate, women
and men. Its programs concentrate on expanding students' awareness
and interest while creating conditions that allow both women and
men to share safely and equally in the opportunities and resources
provided by the University.
These support services are designed to reflect and enhance the
unique goals, expectations, and aspirations of the students. Programs
and services also assist students in addressing contemporary issues
confronting them.
Women's Programs and Studies provides the following services
and programs for students and the campus community:
Information, Counseling, and Referrals
Students can obtain information and explore with a staff member
academic, career, and/or personal concerns that are sex or gender
based. The Office of Women's Programs and Studies offers help
in identifying woman-centered opportunities, resources, and community
events to students and all members of the campus community.
Sexual Assault Victim Assistance Team (VAT)
The VAT is a 24-hour, on-call campus advocate team of trained
students, faculty, and staff that assist Colorado State University
students who have been sexually assaulted on or off campus; and
staff, faculty, or visitors who have been sexually assaulted on
campus. For assistance 24 hours a day, call (970) 491-7111
and ask for a VAT advocate.
Women's
Interdisciplinary Studies Program
Students are assisted in identifying current Women's Studies
course offerings and declaring their interest to pursue certifications
in the program at any time during the calendar year. All Colorado
State students are invited to enroll in Women's Studies courses
of interest to them, whether or not they choose to participate
in the Certificate Program (undergraduate or graduate).
Outreach Programming
Students are invited to attend Women's Programs and Studies workshops,
seminars, groups, lectures, and symposia on a variety of topics.
The popular Women
at Noon program is a weekly presentation/discussion that
features international, national, and local guest speakers. It
addresses topics of particular interest/concern to women and is
open to the community-at-large.
The Resource Center
This Resource Center, located in the Office
of Women's Programs and Studies, is a lending library dedicated
to the exploration of women and men and their values related to
family, career, health, political, legal, and other historical
and contemporary issues from a multi/cross-cultural perspective.
S.A.G.E. (The Student Alliance for Gender Education)
The Student Alliance for Gender Education is an advocacy program
designed to provide peer education on sex and gender role socialization,
dating, healthy relationships, and gender and communication. Trained
S.A.G.E. educators facilitate programs that offer students the
opportunity to explore these issues in a safe and respectful environment,
fostering a better understanding of themselves and one another,
and encouraging them to create healthier patterns of communication
and interaction. Contact the Office
of Women's Programs and Studies for more information.
