Halt Certified Wheat has been tested in Colorado nurseries since 1991, and in five states of
the Southern Regional Performance Nursery in 1994. Dryland tests (1993-95) from the Colorado
Variety Trial indicated that Halt yielded 97, 100 and 91 percent of Tam 107, Lamar and Yuma,
respectively. The test weight of Halt was two percent lower than TAM 107.
Halt Certified Wheat is a hard red winter wheat with wheat and flour protein content similar to Lamar. Halt has strong mixing characteristics as determined by the mixograph. In Colorado and regional milling and baking tests, Halt has been superior in overall bread-making qualities to Lamar, Yuma and Tam 107.
Halt Certified Wheat is protected under the Plant Variety Protection Act and can only be sold as a class of Certified seed. Protection of Halt Certified Wheat Seed will be enforced. "Halt" is owned by the Colorado Wheat Research Foundation (CWRF), inc., and may not be distributed without the permission of CWRF of licensed seed growers.
