JTC Department Cans the Competition in Food Drive Contest

Studio visit After an extensive interdepartmental campaign to gather canned goods for the Food Bank of Larimer County, JTC claimed top honors in competition with other departments within the College of Liberal Arts.

With almost 100 percent participation among faculty and staff, the department gathered 736 items for the food drive in an over-the-top effort orchestrated by office manager Chris Bartholomew.

“Altogether the College of Liberal Arts collected 1,310 items. The Student Leadership Involvement and Community Engagement Office (SLCE) was overjoyed when they saw our “caravan of care” coming over with everything stacked on dollies and carts. This is very exciting for us and the Food Bank! I feel very lucky to be a part of such a wonderful and compassionate group of people. I’m already looking forward to next year’s challenge,” said Bartholomew.

The cans were destined for CSU’s Cans Around the Oval campaign, the largest food drive in Northern Colorado. For the past 18 years, SLCE has coordinated the drive, which last year collected more than 117,000 pounds of food. The drive culminates when volunteers ceremoniously place the food on the curb around the oval.
