Brief Job Description This is a unique internship opportunity for a student to assist with a bringing art to the Fort Collins communities. The concept of the “Urban Gallery” is to educate through creative expression and bring art to the public outside the traditional gallery setting and educate the public about the art process and the artist. This concept is the first of its kind in the United States.

The “Urban Gallery” is designed for the City of Fort Collins. The art gallery is for two dimensional art works, on a rotating basis, and will be seen in six outdoor kiosks throughout “Old Town” area. There will be four shows a year (about three months for each show), three of them being juried competitions (national, regional, local/state) and the fourth a children’s exhibit of art in our community based on the content of the juried exhibitions.

Duplicates of the original art will be seen in the kiosks, and the original works will be displayed in the gallery in the Fort Collins area. The “Urban Gallery” will also include an audio tour with brief descriptions of the art and artist displayed with the hopes of creating an interactive web site with information about the artwork and the concept of the “Urban Gallery,” as well as links to the Fort Collins community.
Additional Information, Application Procedure As this project is in the development stages, the coordinator is seeking an intern to help in the following areas:
  • To help create an audio component to the displays describing the art pieces and artists to the audience with the intent for the visitor to download the audio tour of the ‘Urban Gallery’
  • To research and interview featured artists in the provided audio clips for the listener
  • Web design/interactive web design for intern development including audio, video, artist images, and links
