This past year, the University conducted a diligent Request for Proposal purchasing process for video programming/TV services. As a result of that process, July 1, 2006, the University ceased to receive video programming from Comcast, and began offering video programming that it receives from satellite. This change is being made for several reasons:
1) it will be less expensive for the University with savings of about $100,000 per year; 2) we will have a more robust distribution infrastructure for the service; 3) the video will be of better quality than that delivered by Comcast; and 4) we will have greater ability to control/change the programming annually.
