Long Distance Calls <<Back to Top

How do I make Long Distance calls from my campus phone?
Several long distance service options are available to Residence Hall/Apartment residents:

CSU Telecommunications provides a personal Long Distance Authorization Code for students to use in placing long distance calls. A Code is preassigned to Residence Hall students at the beginning of the Fall Semester. Otherwise, a student must complete a Long Distance Authorization Code Action Request form (available at Residence Hall or Apartment main offices or from Telecommunications, E-100 Glover).

The current rate for all long distance calls in the United States, made using this personal Code, is 6 cents per minute, with the exception of Denver and Greeley being 4 cents per minute. For further information, see Student General Services on our website.

Use operator-assisted or automated long distance calling card services

Use prepaid long distance calling cards

DO NOT ESTABLISH AN ACCOUNT WITH A LONG DISTANCE PROVIDER THAT POSTS CHARGES BACK TO A CSU TELEPHONE NUMBER. (Telecommunications will bill any charges posted to a CSU telephone number to your Student Account and will assess an administrative fee of $10.00 per telephone call.)

DO NOT ACCEPT COLLECT CALLS

May I use the Telecommunications-provided Long Distance Authorization Code from any Campus phone?
For Residence Hall students, the Code is valid only when making calls from your specific Residence Hall room phone. For students living in University Apartments, the Code is valid from any campus phone.
