Where is the Telecommunications office located?
We are located at E-100, Glover Building. Glover is directly east of the Lory Student Center. Our entrance is located at the southeast corner of Glover (by the Natural Resources Building).

What are your office hours?
Winter (Mid August - Mid May): Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m.-4:45 p.m.
Summer (Mid May - Mid August): Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
[Our office may be closed from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.]

How do I order copies of Fort Collins and Denver telephone directories?
Once per year (July or August), department contacts will receive a memo from Telecommunications asking to indicate quantities requested for the Dex Fort Collins directory. These will be delivered in bulk, usually in February.

You may order other directories (i.e., Denver, Loveland, Greeley, Boulder) by calling 1-800-422-8793 or visiting the Dex website..

How do I order copies of the CSU Campus Directory?
The CSU Campus Directory is produced through Publications and Printing. Contact 491-6622.

We have found discrepancies on our department's monthly bill from Telecommunications. How can we get this corrected?
Long Distance charges - fax a copy of your bill noting discrepancies to Rae Mullenix (FAX: 1-2179; Phone: 1-1471)

Is it possible to forward my campus telephone to my home number or cell phone?
Yes. Telecommunications is now offering a Call Forward Off Campus feature allowing incoming calls to be rerouted to a designated local off-campus phone number. The cost is only $2.00 per month, plus a one-time install charge of $10.00. Request this feature by completing a Feature Change Service Order.

Does (*57) Call Trace work on my campus phone?
Yes, you can dial *57 to trace the last call to your campus phone. Follow these Call Trace instructions.


Caller ID Display Phones <<Back to Top

How do I get Caller ID on my phone?
Caller ID is available to faculty/staff ONLY on the Aastra Model 9116 single-line telephone. Caller ID will not be programmed on lines with other "customer-owned" telephones or Caller ID boxes. See information about the Aastra Model 9116 available from Telecommunications.

How do I get a multi-line phone (Meridian) with a "Caller ID type" display?

Can Telecommunications arrange a conference call from my campus phone?

Can I initiate my own conference call from my phone?
You can establish a 3-way Conference Call without the assistance of an attendant. This service is available on all faculty and staff phones. See instructions on our website. [Click on Calling Guide under Faculty/Staff Services. then click on Conference Calls.]

Does Telecommunications provide telephone credit cards for faculty/staff?
A Sprint telephone credit card/calling card may be requested [Click on Service Order and Request Forms under Faculty/Staff Services then click on Calling Card Request under Miscellaneous Request Forms. The Campus Operators can answer questions regarding the issuance and use of these cards [Dial "0"].



DSL/1-Meg Modem <<Back to Top

We are located on the main campus but do not have local area network service. Is there a way to get high-speed Internet access?
Telecommunications offers Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) 1-Meg Modem service to faculty/staff who are on the main campus and do not have local area network service. Specific requirements are necessary. Equipment is limited. See Faculty/Staff DSL Service.


Long Distance Calls <<Back to Top

How do I make Long Distance calls from my campus phone?
You must first obtain a Long Distance Authorization Code. Submit a Faculty/Staff Long Distance Auth Code Request form. To make Long Distance calls with an authorization code, refer to Faculty/Staff Calling Guide.

I use a Long Distance Authorization Code to make Long Distance calls from campus. If I change departments, my name or Social Security Number, do I need to notify Telecommunications?
Yes. You must complete a Faculty/Staff Long Distance Auth Code Request form if any information changes. For instance, if you change departments, you must complete a form to delete the code charged against your old department and fill out a new form to request a code charged to your new department.

Phone Trouble <<Back to Top

My phone is not working. How do I get the phone or phone line repaired?
Contact the Campus Operators [Dial "0"]. They will prepare a Trouble Ticket describing your problem, and a Telecommunications Technician will stop by to make repairs.

Will my department be charged for phone/line repair?
Not for labor; however, we do charge for materials used. If a customer-owned phone is found to be the problem, the client will be charged a one-time fee of $21.

Simultaneous Ringing (SimRing) <<Back to Top

Is it possible for my campus telephone number to ring simultaneously on my home phone or cell phone?
Yes. Telecommunications now offers a SimRing feature which provides for the simultaneous ringing of up to 4 other local on or off-campus telephone numbers when your CSU office telephone number is called. The cost is only $2.00 per month, plus a one-time install charge of $10.00. Request this feature by completing a Feature Change Service Order.

How do I access my Voice Mailbox?

From your office phone:
1. Dial the service number 1-7500
2. Enter your password after you hear your name and "please enter your password"
3. You are now at the Main Menu of your mailbox - Follow the prompts

From home or any off-campus phone:
1. Dial (970) 491-7500
2. You will hear "Welcome to Octel Voice Information Processing; please dial the number of the person you are calling; if you have a mailbox on the system, please press the # Key now"
3. Press the # Key
4. You will then be prompted to enter your mailbox number (the last 5 digits of your campus phone number)
5. You will hear your name and the prompt to enter your password
6. You are now at the Main Menu of your mailbox - Follow the prompts

From another campus phone which has Voice Mail:
1. Dial 1-7500
2. You will hear a person's name and the prompt to enter a password. If you don't enter a password, you will hear "Or if you have entered the wrong mailbox number, press the * Key now"
3. Press the * Key
4. The system will prompt you to enter your mailbox number (the last 5 digits of your campus phone number)
5. You will hear your name and the prompt to enter your password
6. You are now at the Main Menu of your mailbox - Follow the prompts

I have forgotten my Voice Mail Password. What do I do?
Lost passwords cannot be retrieved. If you have lost your password, call 1-2140 to request a Reset Password form. Your request is usually processed within the same business day.
