Colorado State University has entered into a multi-year strategic agreement with Sprint-Nextel to provide cellular service and devices to CSU. This program is mandatory for faculty and staff authorized to have a university cellular telephone with a transition date of no later than July 1, 2006.
The CSU Mobile Communications Program is a culmination of a mutli-year effort, prompted by the administration's desire to enhance and simplify cellular service. Specific expected outcomes are:
-
Improvement of cellular coverage on university property
-
Reduction of the overall costs of wireless service to the university
-
Standardized technology and services, resulting in better service and support
-
Simplification of the administration of cellular service
-
Having Telecommunications and Academic Computing and Networking Services (ACNS) undertake the program's management, support, billing, and service enhancement functions.
The University realizes that participation in the program might impose an undue burden on some individuals, therefore, the University is allowing exemption for specific purposes. Here is a link to an Exemption Application.
