WebSim provides two formats for viewing the simulation results. Within the windows interface, one can view a summary of the results or a text file may be opened to view details from each simulation replicate.
To view the results summary, click on File/Open Simulation Results. The summary will appear in a window. The summary provides an array of averages and extreme values along with the true simulated density. Confidence interval coverage is based on a 95% confidence interval around the density estimate. CV indicates a coefficient of variation. h(0) is the derivative of the detection function evaluated at zero distance. SE indicates standard error. Sample size per simulation = n and the number of webs = k. P(a) is the unconditional probability of detection of an animal within the web. P(a) is only accurate if no more than two circles of effective trap area overlap a single point. The fraction captured within the web is the number of animals captured which began somewhere within the web divided by the total number of animals which began within the web. The fraction of animals captured within 30 m is the number of animals captured which began within 30 m of the center of the web divided by the total number of animals which began the simulation within 30 m of the web.

To view the results file, click on the View Results File button on the bottom left of the simulation results window (pictured above). Notepad or Wordpad will be opened to view the results file. The results file may also be accessed directly through Windows Explorer. The name of the results file may be set in the habitat window, otherwise it defaults to results.txt. The columns of the results file are tab delimited.
The columns of the results file are as follows:
The command line interface allows the user to create a capture history file which contains the capture history of every animal in every web at each trapping occasion for all replicates. This file gets huge as the number of animals, webs, or replicates increases.
