Current
Position and Research Program:
- Primary responsibility is to work with Dr. Holm on
Potato Breeding and Selection project for new cultivar(s) development.
- Managing and supervising the greenhouse activities
which involve crossing, seedling tuber production, and nuclear stock
production.
- Implementing molecular genetic techniques on
conventional breeding practices and collaborating with various
colleagues to better understand disease resistance mechanisms on both
tuber and potato plants.
- Assisting to run annual open house meetings,
exchanging research based knowledge with growers and preparing annual
reports.
Biodata:
Fahrattin and his wife, Zuhal, have three children — Furkan
Ahmet, Kaan and Adem Haluk. They currently reside in Monte Vista, CO. Being
close to nature, especially the mountains, as well as fishing and hiking are
their biggest hobbies.
