Memorial Day™ 2004 AARS Winner
Class: Hybrid Tea

Habit: The upright, rounded, well-branched bush grows to 5 feet high by 4 feet wide. Planted in groups of three or five Memorial Day is a perfect addition to any cutting garden – the traditional use of hybrid teas. All it takes is one bloom to fill an entire room with sweet rose perfume.

Disease Resistance: Very Good

Color: Memorial Day’s clear pink with a lavender wash bloom rests comfortably among extremely abundant rich green foliage.

Bloom: Memorial Day’s pointed oval buds spiral open to reveal very large 5-inch ruffled blooms with 50 gorgeous petals on long low-thorn stems.

Fragrance: Strong damask – the classic smell that everyone expects from a hybrid tea rose.

Hybridizer: Tom Carruth hybridized Memorial Day. This is Carruth’s fifth AARS winner.

Parentage: A combination of Blueberry Hill and New Zealand.

Introducer: Memorial Day is introduced by Weeks Wholesale Rose Grower.

Availability: Memorial Day will be available online, through mail order catalogs and at garden centers, nurseries, home centers and mass merchandisers during the 2004 planting season.
