CRIS Form AD-421 - Instructions - Guidelines
The following guidelines are suggested for developing the annual report:
- Target one key component of the research project.
- Emphasize accomplishments and their impact. DO NOT provide
a list of activities.
- Suggested report approach:

State problem -- Who cares and Why?

Describe study conducted in general terms -- What has been done?

State the results or accomplishments

Evaluate the impact of the results

Economic
-
Social
-
Environmental
-
Scientific
-
Your progress report and/or impact statement will be reviewed with some
of these types of questions in mind.

Are there new treatments developed because of this research (agronomic,
human, etc)?

Have you discovered a new mechanism for transmission of disease, and/or
explained the causes of a disease?

Will the results of this research be the basis for new work? How
can the results help us in the future?

If a survey was conducted or data was collected, what is/are the main conclusion/s
and what is the importance of them?

Do you have information on the impact of this project over the years?
(e.g. What proportion of Colorado wheat, potato, and bean acres are from
lines released by this program? What is the improvement in yield
over the years, reduction in pest losses, reduction in pesticides, increase
life expectancy, improve health, etc.)

Can you estimate the acres impacted by this work?

Is there any economic impact as a result of this work? (e.g. what
is the reduction in cost or increase in profits due to this work?)

Ultimately - Can you quantify the economic impact of your work?
