Colorado State holds a 34-25 advantage in the series, and has claimed victory in 15 of the 26 games with New Mexico played in Fort Collins. The Rams have won two games in a row and three of the last four in the series with the Lobos, and have won two in a row against New Mexico at home. The Lobos’ last win in Fort Collins came in 2006 (20-19).
Ram Town will include special displays for the Salute to Armed Forces. Look for the familiar inflatables and games east of the large grassy area that is now open for fans and families to mix and mingle, enjoy a picnic, listen to the band and take in the pregame atmosphere.
"Ram Walk" begins at approximately 2:40 p.m. north of the stadium, where students are encouraged to join the band as winds through the student pregame area on the east side of the stadium then through Ram Town, ending at the south entrance to the stadium where the team is welcomed to the stadium at 2:50.
Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 4:30 p.m. to take in the full pregame experience inside Hughes Stadium. Flags representing each of the eight colleges on the CSU campus will be paraded into the stadium and displayed prominently along the south end zone wall. CAM the Ram will then escort to the middle of the field a new "victory flag" signed by the students outside the stadium before each game, setting the stage for the team’s entrance onto the field.
Ram Walk welcomes the team to Hughes Stadium.
It begins north of the stadium at approximately 2:15 p.m. when the band makes its way along the east side of the stadium, encouraging students to follow along through Ram Town and the Blue lot tail gating areas to greet the team buses (red dotted path in the image below). Students and fans then line the team walk to welcome their Rams to the game (yellow triangles).
Ram Walk highlights include a 10 minute "Ram Band Show," CSU Cheer and Pom performances, interaction with Cam The Ram and of course, the arrival of the team at approximately 2:55 p. m. The walk is capped off with fireworks as the team entering the locker room!
The Rams (3-8, 2-5 MW) celebrate Senior Day on Saturday when they welcome New Mexico (4-8, 1-6) to close out the 2012 slate, the school’s first under head coach Jim McElwain. Colorado State will honor 16 student-athletes before their final appearance in a Rams uniform. CSU has won two consecutive home games, and seeks to win three home games in a row in the same season for the first time since 2008. The last time the Rams won three Mountain West games in a row at home was in 2005 (Air Force, Utah, Wyoming). Colorado State has matched its win total from each of the past three seasons. With a win in the final game the Rams would secure their best record since 2008 when they finished 7-6.
