Requirements: The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures hires Special Assistant Professors/Special Instructors from an applicant pool. Such Special Assistant Professors/Special Instructors may be hired for fall, spring, and/or summer term in a given academic year. They are hired to teach courses in language acquisition, literature, and culture in the following languages: American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Russian, and Spanish. Requirements for this position are a Ph.D. for Special Assistant Professor rank or M.A. for Special Instructor, experience teaching a specific subject area, and demonstrated teaching excellence. Near-native fluency and experience teaching the language or literature are preferred. For summer teaching, previous experience teaching at Colorado State University is required.
