This is a full-time tenure-track or tenured faculty position, nine-month appointment, beginning August 16, 2014, at an Open Rank.
Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in music, or equivalent professional experience; must have served as Associate Director or Director of Bands for at least 5 years at the university level.
Preferred Qualifications: evidence of achievement as a wind conductor at the university level; strong organizational and communication skills, and demonstrated ability to lead and work in a collaborative environment; strong commitment to recruiting and outreach in public school system. Demonstrated ability to teach in the classroom, including Wind Literature and Advanced Conducting; demonstrated ability to recruit and teach graduate wind conducting students.
Responsibilities: Work in a collaborative environment with the Associate Director of Bands and music staff to provide leadership and direction for the band area; conduct the Wind Ensemble; teach related courses, including Advanced Conducting and Wind Literature; recruit undergraduate and graduate music majors; supervise graduate wind conducting students; continue scholarly and creative research activities; participate in departmental governance and appropriate public events.
