Applications and nominations are invited for the Assistant or Associate Professor, nine-month tenure track position in Apparel Technical Design/Product Development at Colorado State University; salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Teach, advise, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Apparel Technical Design/Product Development using both traditional and CAD approaches for two or more of the following areas: Functional Design, Textile Design, Pattern Drafting, Illustration, Product Development, and Draping. Advise/mentor undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of academic endeavors.
Conduct research and obtain external funding Conduct and disseminate research and/or creative scholarship; Seek external funding to support research, creative scholarship, teaching, and/or outreach; and Collaborate with other faculty in support of the research mission of the Department and the College.
Engage in service and outreach to the University, the community, and the profession.
Qualifications Appropriate to Rank
Required Earned Ph.D. degree in apparel technical design/product development or closely related field at time of appointment; Evidence of successful teaching in higher education; Competency in current design technology used in the apparel and textile industry. Ability to advise undergraduate and graduate students, including directing graduate research and creative scholarship; Ability to conduct and disseminate research/creative scholarship; Ability to secure external funding in support of research/creative scholarship, teaching, and/or outreach; and Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators.
Preferred Industry experience and/or established industry partnerships; Experience with 3-D body scanning and other current apparel technologies; International experience; Familiarity with social responsibility and environmental sustainability issues as they relate to apparel and textiles; and Demonstrated success in procuring external funding. The ability to advance the departments commitment to diversity and inclusion through research, teaching and outreach with relevant programs, goals and activities.
