Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Range $41,000 - $43,000 annual base salary.
POSITION A Historic Preservation Outreach Coordinator and Administrative Support (Research Associate II Special) position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). This position is located at Hill Air Force Base in Layton, Utah, supporting the Cultural Resources Management (CRM) program.
RESPONSIBILITIES Primary duties include general program support and facilitation of the Annual American Indian meeting. Other duties include, but are not limited to: • Develop, maintain, manage, and organize cultural resources data and associated files in accordance with Air Force guidance • Maintain accurate Project Distribution Lists for American Indian Tribes and State Historic Preservation Office, and ensure that completed formal correspondence is appropriately distributed and coordinated • Provide support for the Annual American Indian meeting including but not limited to: planning, logistics, travel notifications, meeting minutes, and preparation of a follow-up package • Provide support for cultural resources educational activities • Support the definition and acquisition of supplies necessary for the CRM program • Archive CRM documentation and maintain version control
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS The successful candidate must be able to walk over uneven terrain and work in inclement weather during site visits with Native American consulting tribes and other stakeholder groups.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate must demonstrate U.S. employment eligibility; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position. A Bachelor’s degree in the Social Sciences or education and three years of experience is required. Experience with public outreach activities and familiarity with American Indian tribal protocols is necessary. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is also required. The successful candidate must have or be able to obtain a valid driving license.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Five years of experience managing and facilitating Native American tribal consultation meetings in the western United States, including logistics, planning, and report-generation activities is desired. Familiarity with Native American tribal histories in the western United States is a plus. Database management skills for cultural resources records management are preferred. Proficiency using AdobePro, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop is desired. Prior experience conducting CRM work on U.S. military installations is also preferred.
SALARY Continuation of the position is dependent on the receipt of funding from the sponsor for Historic Preservation Outreach Coordinator efforts at Hill AFB, UT.
