Requirements: Position: The College of Liberal Arts at Colorado State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the International Studies Interdisciplinary Major. The major is housed in the College of Liberal Arts and is designed for students who wish to study the world’s diverse cultures and civilizations. The program combines disciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to non-US cultures, and is constructed primarily of classes housed in disciplinary and departmental homes. Increasingly popular, the program has grown dramatically in recent years to a total of nearly 300 majors. It offers concentrations in Asian Studies, European Studies, Latin American Studies, and Middle East/North African Studies. The program is poised for a period of strong growth, both in numbers of majors and in prominence in the college, the university, and the region. The position is an Administrative Professional designation. The director will be housed in the College of Liberal Arts and will report to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies. This nine-month renewable position will begin August 16, 2013.

Required Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. in a field aligned with one of the program’s concentrations;
• A record of scholarship in a field aligned with one of the program’s concentrations

Preferred Qualifications:

• A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching;
• Experience in program development and management

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be charged with the following responsibilities:

• Serve as head of the International Studies Interdisciplinary Major;
• Teach a negotiable number of courses per year as part of the INST curriculum and in the director’s area of expertise;
• Manage and develop the INST curriculum;
• Oversee INST advising;
• Develop INST co-curricular programming;
• Develop and enact recruitment and retention plans for INST majors
