Title: Associate Dean for the Professional Veterinary Medical Program (Internal to CVMBS)

Requirements: The Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is seeking a distinguished individual from within the college to provide leadership as Associate Dean for the Professional Veterinary Medical Program. The Associate Dean reports directly to the Dean and provides leadership relevant to the PVM curriculum and scholastic standards. This position has 12 month salary support distributed with 75%+ effort in administrative role and up to 25% effort in one of the four academic departments within the college. Specific responsibilities include:
• PVM Curriculum
o Serve as an ex officio member of the PVM Curriculum Committee, providing philosophical guidance and innovative leadership, direction consistent with AVMA accreditation and University curricular guidelines, and oversight in curricular reviews.
o Manage fund distribution for PVM teaching efforts.
• PVM Scholastic Standards
o Serve as chair of the PVM Scholastic Standards Committee, providing direction to faculty and students in the interpretation and application of all policies related to scholastic standards and class attendance.
• Informational and Instructional Technologies
o Provide oversight of the educational specialist to foster improvements in instructional design, methodologies and technology (including RamCT); provide a leadership role on assessment and improvement of teaching equipment and facilities; and oversee student and peer evaluations of courses and instructors. Provide input on web design and content for the PVM program and college overall.
• Student Affairs and Counseling
o Provide oversight of the Student Coordinators for student affairs issues and the Counselor who oversees counseling services
• Student Admissions and Combined Degrees
o Provide oversight supervision for Senior Director for PVM Student Services who shall oversee the admissions process and personnel as well as the combined degree programs (MBA, MPH, and Ph.D.).
• PVM Outcomes Assessment
o Provide input to college outcomes assessment processes and collaborate with College personnel tasked to participate in outcomes assessment activities for the purposes of Higher Learning Commission, American Veterinary Medical Association, and other institutional accreditation processes. The Associate Dean is responsible for the administration of annual surveys of graduating PVM students, and triennial surveys of alumni and employers, for organizing all activities related to the AVMA Accreditation Site Visit, for compiling the final Site Visit Report, and assuring uninterrupted compliance with AVMA Accreditation Standards.
o Implement changes adopted through recommendations of college committees and as a result of outcomes assessment.
• College Advisory Bodies
o Serve as a member of the CVMBS Executive Council (Associate Deans, Directors, and Department Heads) that advises the Dean on all matters of College policy and procedure.
o Chair the South Campus Resource Utilization Board and South Campus Environmental Health and Safety Committee, and serve as a member of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital Board, and Veterinary Medical Center Biosecurity Committee.
• Extramural Support
o Serve as primary administrative contact with extramural organizations that provide resources and training opportunities in support of the PVM program. These include commercial pet food companies, pharmaceutical companies, professional societies, other academic institutions, private veterinary practices, and individual University donors.
o Participation in national veterinary education organizations including the AAVMC and the Veterinary Educators Collaborative.

Job Qualifications
• Candidates must have a distinguished record of scholarship, instruction, and service to qualify for this largely administrative position. Only tenured associate or full professors within CVMBS will qualify for this position. Requirements include a proven record of innovation in instructional design, effective leadership, a strong commitment to teaching at the professional and graduate levels, a record that demonstrates enthusiasm for broad interdisciplinary collaboration, and robust interpersonal and organizational skills. Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree. Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong familiarity with all aspects of the preclinical and clinical phases of the curriculum.
