Salary is commensurate with education and experience with a range of $45,000 $50,000
This is a year-round, 12 month position with benefits. This individual will report to the Manager of Career Counseling, College of Business, Career Management Center. Primary responsibilities include:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Work with undergraduate and graduate students, including international students and historically underrepresented student populations, and alumni on the career management process. - Provide career information and planning services, job availability information, interview skills, resume writing training, and internship/job search assistance in individual and group settings for students and alumni of the College of Business - Assist students in the process of learning and choosing potential areas of study and careers - Help students develop job search strategies for locations and industries Coordinate, attend, and/or assist with internal career events Develop, coordinate and deliver student workshops in all areas of career development, including videos, webinars, and podcasts. Topics will include understanding the job search and the job offer negotiation process including how to compare job offers and benefit packages; resume writing, job searches, interview tips, networking, social media, cover letters and more Present to classes, student clubs and organizations Conduct and interpret career assessments Contribute to career services web site and online resource development Attend and support networking events with students, alumni, and employers Maintain expertise in career development through participation in professional organizations Project development and management related to supporting the career development needs of our student and alumni populations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Masters degree in career counseling, counseling, higher education or related field earned by the start date or within one year of the start date. Minimum of 2 years professional experience. Demonstrated experience in career development, placement or career services activities in higher education including knowledge of career counseling and/or student development theories Strong communication skills with demonstrated presentation experience Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for career events
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Career services experience within a College of Business Undergraduate degree in a business major Masters degree in career counseling completed or in process Experience with group counseling Experience with career assessment tools Ability to understand and articulate needs and concerns of historically under-represented and ethnically diverse populations; demonstrate a personal and professional commitment to diversity Professional experience in business including experience in marketing, finance, management, accounting, real estate, computer information systems, or human resources Technical skills including experience in MS Office Suite Knowledge of social media and its use as a job search strategy
