Requirements: Colorado State University, a land grant, Carnegie Doctoral/Research Extensive University invites applications and nominations for the position of Department Chair of Accounting in the College of Business. This position reports directly to the Dean of the College of Business. The successful candidate will have the intellect, integrity, and administrative acumen to lead evolutionary change in the department in partnership with the faculty, students, business professionals, and administrative members of the College of Business. The selected candidate will be expected to start during summer 2014 or as negotiated. Salary is competitive, depending upon qualifications. Position Description: The department chair is the chief administrative and academic officer of the department and is responsible for leadership, strategic planning, curriculum, personnel, and budget issues in the department. Specific responsibilities include: provide leadership of academic, research, and development issues; mentor faculty; conduct departmental administration, including preparation and administration of the departmental budget; prepare class schedules and teaching assignments; conduct standards-based annual evaluations of faculty and staff in department; initiate recommendations for appointments, advancement, and tenure; publish discipline relevant research; guide the department in assessment and accreditation efforts; interact with business professionals; and lead departmental fundraising and alumni relations efforts. This position calls for an energetic, visionary individual who provides inclusive leadership in fostering excellence in teaching, research and service activities, and further enhances the department’s reputation.

Qualifications: Required qualifications include a doctoral degree in accounting, a distinguished record commensurate with appointment as a full professor of accounting, appropriate teaching experience, and the ongoing ability to publish in premier and high quality academic journals. Preferred qualifications include demonstrated excellence in administrative endeavors, successful job supervisory experience, and the ability to interact effectively with the business community.

Department: One of five academic units in the College of Business, the Department of Accounting has a strong record of teaching and research accomplishments, and expects faculty members to be active in the academic and professional community. The Department currently provides undergraduate concentrations in accounting, offers a Master of Accountancy (MAcc) degree, and participates in other graduate programs of the College.

The Department currently has11 tenure-track and 6 non-tenure track faculty. The Department’s graduates consistently have one of the highest overall CPA Exam pass rates in the state of Colorado. The Department serves approximately 350 undergraduate students in the concentration, 50 students in the MAcc program, and 1600 MBA students. The MBA is offered via a part-time evening program and via a nationally-acclaimed distance program. Accounting faculty may also teach in the Denver Executive MBA program, the Global Social and Sustainable Enterprises MBA program, and the Masters in Management Practice program.
