Requirements: Colorado State University, Department of Clinical Sciences is seeking applicants for a tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor level in Veterinary Ophthalmology. A DVM or equivalent degree and diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO) or completion of an approved ACVO residency training program is required, with board certification preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with an advanced degree and/or postdoctoral research experience. Expertise in clinical service and instruction of veterinary students and residents and demonstrated ability to work with others in a team atmosphere is required. The successful candidate will participate in the clinical and didactic instructional activities of the professional veterinary medicine and post-graduate training programs related to ophthalmology. Clinical service responsibilities will be shared with one other faculty member in ophthalmology. This involves coordination of the ophthalmology service, providing clinical care of patients, teaching veterinary medical students, training ophthalmology residents, providing nighttime and weekend back-up for ophthalmology residents and consultation with private practitioners and pet owners. Clinical service, teaching, and scholarly collaboration and consultation with the all other clinical service faculty are encouraged. Additional didactic lecture and laboratory teaching will be identified based on the individual’s areas of expertise and interest. The candidate is expected to develop funded independent and/or collaborative research activities that will contribute toward scholarly development and productivity in disciplines related to veterinary ophthalmology.

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is designed to support internationalization initiatives at the University as they impact use of the Writing Center. The successful candidate will mentor consultants through direct interaction as well as the development of six hours of staff training on best practices for working with and supporting English language learners (ELL). The candidate will also work with the Writing Center staff to revise the Writing Center Tutorial (WCT) and Course Collaboration programs to meet the needs of ELL writers. The Writing Center ELL specialist will work with the Writing Center Director on additional administrative and pedagogical projects as needed.

COMPENSATION: This position will be compensated up to the equivalent of two course releases at the base per-section rate for the academic year (in 2012-13 that was $8,186). Annual reappointment depends on performance and the continued availability of funding.

Duties:
The position is full time (4/4 load) with one course release each semester for administrative work. Responsibilities include collaborating with the Writing Center Director to develop materials for and participate in Writing Center consultant training and development; coordinate the Course Collaboration and Writing Center Tutorial programs; spend five hours per week directly supervising Writing Center operations; observe and evaluate consultants’ performance; maintain records of Writing Center activities; and evaluate Writing Center performance. Successful applicants will be expected to meet departmental objectives for the courses they teach. In composition, instructors might teach CO130 (Academic Writing), CO150 (College Composition), CO300 (Writing Arguments), CO301 (Writing in the Disciplines), or CO302 (Writing Online). The availability of other courses is based on department need and the instructor’s background.

Salary: This position is a special assignment. Annual reappointment depends on performance and the continued availability of funding. The term of this assignment is customarily three years. The salary for the position will be the successful applicant’s 2012-13 100% salary, plus any increase from a salary exercise (if the University has one), plus an administrative stipend of $2500 per academic year.

Requirements: The Mycobacteria Research Laboratories (MRL) at Colorado State University are seeking postdoctoral fellows to conduct research on mycobacterial diseases and pathogens. Expertise in molecular biology, protein, lipid and carbohydrate biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, enzymology, metabolomics, genomics, animal models of disease, immunology and/or cell biology is desirable. The Mycobacteria Research Laboratories at Colorado State University provides an unique opportunity to conduct basic and translational scientific research on mycobacterial diseases. Currently, there are twenty laboratory groups that conduct mycobacterial research on a wide spectrum of topics including mycobacterial physiology and pathogenesis, tuberculosis vaccine and drug development, leprosy and tuberculosis diagnostics, the study of nontuberculous mycobacterial diseases and Buruli ulcer, and the epidemiology and diagnostics of mycobacterial diseases affecting animals including bovine tuberculosis and Johne’s disease.

Our goal is to provide an interactive scientific environment for collaborative research on mycobacterial diseases and to facilitate advanced training of junior scientists and students.
