Requirements: Several Teaching Aide positions are available in the Professional Veterinary Medical program at Colorado State University which will support the program’s Foundations in Clinical Practices course.

A bachelor’s degree in a biomedical science area OR the substitution of an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology (or its equivalent) with five to ten years of veterinary clinical experience OR the substitution of at least ten years of veterinary technician on-the-job training in a certified clinic is required. The successful applicants must have at least one semester of experience teaching as a clinical educator in veterinary medicine and demonstrate skill in physical exam techniques regarding small animals. Veterinary technicians with at least five to ten years of experience working in high quality veterinary practices (such as AAHA certified practices) that have demonstrated ability as good communicators and clinical instructors will be given preference.

The individuals will be required to assist in the instruction and evaluation of veterinary students in the performance of physical, ophthalmologic, dermatologic, cardiologic, and pain assessment exams of small animals. They must help to evaluate these student exams in a clinical setting. They are expected to implement the guidelines set in the student syllabus.

All positions are temporary and are not benefit eligible. Positions are for one semester with the potential of continuing the following semester. Hours worked are approximately 2-6 hours per week depending on the employee’s schedule as well as the need for clinical educators for the courses for that semester. The course runs approximately 8-9 weeks per semester and there is a 2-3 hour orientation at the beginning of each semester as well as a one hour introduction class period that aides are required to attend. Hours preparing outside of the class environment will be paid. Hourly wage for these positions is $15.53/hour and no benefits. Job description of the Research Associate I position:

The Next Generation Sequencing Core Facility at the Infectious Disease Research Complex is looking for an enthusiastic , motivated and team oriented individual who is willing to accept and conduct basic responsibilities independently as well as learn new techniques and develop advanced skills to join our team as a part time Laboratory Assistant I. This position will serve as support in all general laboratory operations of the core facility, including but not limited to, inventory management, laboratory maintenance, sample intake and quality control, project scheduling and sample processing assistance. Operation of standard laboratory equipment as well as advanced genomic and NGS technologies will be required.

Minimum Qualifications:
1) BS Molecular Biology, Biology or related field as well as bench top experience is preferred, with special considerations given to experience in NGS or other service core facilities.
2) Molecular lab experience, knowledge and ability to perform RTPCR, Nucleic Acid Isolation and Molecular Biology protocols and quality control applications are desired.
3) Flexible and team oriented individual preferred as hours will often be variable and all research is based on individual PI timelines and instrument output abilities.
4) Looking for a motivated and team oriented individual who is willing to accept and conduct basic responsibilities independently as well as learn new techniques and develop advanced skills.

Preferred Qualification:
1) Strong molecular biology background and laboratory experience is highly desired.

Job description of the Facilities, Operations and Validation Technician/Manager position:

This position requires strong knowledge of engineering, facility maintenance, laboratory equipment and experience in biotech or pharmaceutical setting. Preferred experience with manufacturing and knowledge of cGMP quality requirements for FDA regulated products. Under the direction of the Director, this position is responsible for:
• Maintaining and repairing equipment and communicating with technical experts to ensure proper function of equipment and efficient operation of facility.
• Management of complex systems and large numbers of instruments and equipment. Strict adherence to timelines, management of routine maintenance, equipment installation, operation, and performance qualification.
• Being on call and setting up a response team for equipment malfunction and maintenance.
• Supervise the procurement and use of all of BioMARC’s equipment.
• Responsible for the conforming calibration, qualification and validation status of equipment.
• Responsible for supervising the coordination of facility support.
• Performs cyclical preventative maintenance on all of BioMARC’s equipment.
• Supports a controlled database for the documentation and trending of the performance readings (i.e., temperature readings, pressure readings, etc.) for critical equipment.
• Creates equipment protocols, reports, SOPs and other directive documents.
• Performs investigations, root cause analysis , and CAPAs related to equipment and system issues.
• Proactively communicates equipment status to affected departments during qualification, routine maintenance or unplanned maintenance of equipment
Additional experience:
• Experience with building commissioning and validation preferred.
• Experience with building automation systems preferred.

Candidates must show attention to detail, have excellent communication skills and be able to work within a team under challenging and sometimes stressful conditions. Candidates should have strong time management and organizational abilities. Experience in a cGMP setting is highly advantageous. Candidates must be comfortable entering Clean Room and High Containment laboratories that require specialized personal protective equipment (gowning, tyveks suits, gloves, etc.).

Candidates must have above average communication skills (writing and speaking) and be responsible for supporting a healthy working environment between other departments and facility staff. May oversee personnel engaged in FO & V support activities. Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
