Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with academic or scholarly credentials in composition theory and pedagogy or rhetoric.

Duties:
• The position is full time (4/4 load) with one course release each semester for administrative work.
o The Composition Administration assignment entails the training and supervision of graduate teaching assistants in CO150, College Composition
 This role includes co-coordinating intensive, week-long orientation program before fall semester; holding weekly in-service workshops; observing classes of and holding conferences about grading with new GTAs; maintaining records about and evaluating GTA teaching performance; and collaborating to update/revise common CO150 syllabus and course materials.
• Successful applicants will be expected to meet departmental objectives for the courses CO150 (College Composition), CO300 (Writing Arguments), or CO301 (Writing in the Disciplines). The availability of other courses is based on department need and the instructor’s background.

Salary: This position is a special assignment. Annual reappointment depends on performance and the continued availability of funding. The term of this assignment is customarily three years. The salary for the position will be the successful applicant’s 2012-13 100% salary, plus any increase from a salary exercise (if the University has one), plus an administrative stipend of $2500 per academic year.

General Information: The English department at CSU has a tenure-track faculty of 35, approximately 500 undergraduate majors, and more than 140 graduate students. The University Composition Program houses five programs which serve the University at large: the First-Year Composition Program (FYC), the Upper-Division Composition Program (UDC), the University Writing Center, the gtPathways Writing Program (GTP), and the Composition Placement Program. Each of these programs is unified by our faculty commitment to teaching writing as a rhetorical act of inquiry and learning, ensuring that our programs are consistent with national standards for best practice, and maintaining a clear and reliable understanding of CSU’s students’ writing backgrounds and needs. The department appoints more than 35 graduate teaching assistants who teach creative and expository writing and English as a second language. Undergraduate concentrations in creative writing, English education, language, literature, and writing lead to a B.A. in English. Master of Arts degrees are offered in creative nonfiction, English education, literature, rhetoric and composition, and TESL/TEFL. A Master of Fine Arts is offered in creative writing. These papers should include your marginal and end comments; the English department considers responding to student writing central to good teaching, and thus we review these comments as indications of pedagogical effectiveness. Please also include a narrative describing the assignment and grading criteria (up to one page). Explain how the assignment fits into the overall picture of the course;
• three recent (written in the last 3 years) letters of reference that speak to your administrative experience and/or potential, as well as your teaching;
• a street address, phone number, and email address where you can be reached during both the school year and the summer.

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is designed to support internationalization initiatives at the University as they impact use of the Writing Center. A bachelor’s degree in a biomedical science area OR the substitution of an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology (or its equivalent) with five to ten years of veterinary clinical experience OR the substitution of at least ten years of veterinary technician on-the-job training in a certified clinic is required. The successful applicants must have at least one semester of experience teaching as a clinical educator in veterinary medicine and demonstrate skill in physical exam techniques regarding small animals. Veterinary technicians with at least five to ten years of experience working in high quality veterinary practices (such as AAHA certified practices) that have demonstrated ability as good communicators and clinical instructors will be given preference.

The individuals will be required to assist in the instruction and evaluation of veterinary students in the performance of physical, ophthalmologic, dermatologic, cardiologic, orthopedic and neurologic exams of small animals. They must help to evaluate these student exams in a clinical setting. They are expected to implement the guidelines set in the student task booklet and the student syllabus.

All positions are temporary and are not benefit eligible. Positions are for one semester with the potential of continuing the following semester. Hours worked are approximately 2-6 hours per week depending on the employee’s schedule as well as the need for clinical educators for the courses for that semester. Job description of the QA Specialist II position:
Under the direction of senior Quality Assurance (QA) staff members, QA Specialist II is responsible for basic QA activities to support the ongoing quality system and cGMP campaign activities. Must be able to review and audit documentation for compliance to good documentation practices and to the technical requirements of directive documents (SOPs, protocols, directive documents, etc.). The QA Specialist II reviews testing, quality control, development study and other reports/data-forms for accuracy, completeness and compliance to requirements to ensure that QA standards and regulatory requirements are met. Assist the organization with change control procedures and events. Reviews QA standards, studies existing policies and procedures, and interacts with personnel and clients to evaluate effectiveness of QA program and assists in writing QA policies and procedures. Participates in internal and external audits and assists departments with the coordination of audit information, and recommends appropriate improvement/mitigations. Assists with the monitoring of incidents and CAPAs; supports the mitigation, closure and archiving plans for incidents/CAPAs as well as all other documentation of the organization. Keeps the Director informed of the status of the quality system and unusual occurrences.

Candidates should have knowledge of commonly-used QA concepts, practices, and procedures within cGMP field and is responsible for improving one’s knowledge base of current QA regulations and for informing the Director of any new and/or revised regulations. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job, but also have the ability to think critically and work independently; must have above average communication skills (writing and speaking) and be responsible for supporting a healthy working environment between other departments where QA is concerned. May oversee personnel engaged in QA support activities. Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

Requires a bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of full-time experience in the field or in a related area

Employment Type:
The job title categories within this pool are for positions (when available) that are within a range of 0.5-1.0 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) effort (i.e., 50-100% work effort). Hiring into a particular position at a specific FTE effort is based on the availability of task-specific funds and one’s skill set. Please note that this FTE effort and your salary will be very clearly communicated to you prior to hiring. Continued employment is not guaranteed and is also based on the availability of task-specific funds, one’s skill set and other variables.

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 6 - 10 (temporary)
WORK LOCATIONS: North central Wyoming /South central Montana (Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area), and North Central Nebraska (Niobrara National Scenic River and Missouri National Recreation River)
PAY RATE: $2000 - $2500/month, plus housing and other expenses
DURATION: 2-4 months (approx. May – September)

Summary of All Positions:

The Colorado Natural Heritage Program at Colorado State University seeks experienced ecology and botany field technicians for summer field work on several vegetation inventory projects. The projects are located at the Niobrara National Scenic River and Missouri National Recreation River in north central Nebraska, and The Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area in south central Montana and north central Wyoming. The work entails vegetation sampling and all positions require field botany or field ecology skills. Knowledge of plant taxonomy and species identification required. Experience identifying flora of the area is preferred. A crew lead position is available to suitably qualified candidates.

Successful applicants will work in groups of two to sample vegetation communities in support of these vegetation inventory and map accuracy assessment projects. Field technicians will be based in housing near the project site and work will entail a combination of daytrips and multi-day backpack, canoe, or car camping trips. Crews will navigate daily to randomly selected sites to establish plot locations and document plant community characteristics. Many sample locations will be in remote areas of the park.

Duties
1. Work with a partner to use GPS to navigate to plot locations and collect data on species and plant communities present. Requires the ability to reliably identify plants and plant communities of the project area, identify dominant species and community structure, and document presence of exotic or rare species,
2. Reliably locate field plots, complete field forms, operate and maintain GPS units, digital cameras, and other field equipment, and effectively manage collected data,
3. Enter and maintain data in electronic formats (databases, spreadsheets, GP GIS),
4. Thoroughly document all fieldwork using field notebooks, survey forms, maps, GPS, and digital cameras.

Qualifications:
A degree in botany or ecology, natural resources, range management, forestry, or related field, or 3 years of equivalent field experience is required. Preference will be given to candidates with previous field experience, and experience with the regional flora of the project area.

1. Knowledge of dichotomous botanical keys and field guides, and the major angiosperm plant families;
2. Willingness to travel extensively during field season, work unusual schedules (up to 10 consecutive days), backpack, car camp, and live for an extended period in remote areas;
3. Good physical condition to enable working long hours in the field, traveling off-trail in rough terrain, and working through inclement weather;
4. Experience with aerial photograph and topographic map interpretation;
5. Careful attention to data;
6. Comfort and familiarity with the use of computers;
7. Experience or familiarity with the use of GPS;
8. Experience collecting vegetation and environmental data in the field;
9. Experience with vegetation sampling techniques;
10. Experience with species identification, community classification, or habitat typing;
11. Experience classifying vegetation types.
