The Department of Communication Studies hires Special Assistant Professors/Special Instructors from an applicant pool. Such Special Assistant Professor/Special Instructors may be hired for fall, spring, and/or summer term in a given academic year. They are hired to teach courses in communication studies such as public speaking, popular culture, public argumentation, and group communication. Requirements for this position are a Ph.D. in Communication Studies for Special Assistant Professor rank or M.A. in Communication Studies for Special Instructor rank, experience teaching a specific subject area, and teaching excellence. For those teaching public speaking, experience teaching assignments equivalent or similar to the assignments in Colorado State University’s public speaking course is desirable. The open positions are temporary assignments. Level I is for individuals generally within three years of receiving their Ph.D. and with significant professional accomplishments. Ranking and qualifications within these levels are done on a case-by-case basis with factors that include the publication record, past research funding, professional honors and awards, decisive discoveries, and management experience.
Applicable department research areas include, among others, biochemistry, molecular biology, cellular biology and structural biology. Research Associate positions are available in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology in the area of infectious disease research. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or a closely related field. Candidates with knowledge and experience in one or more of the following fields are preferred: bacteriology, virology, parasitology, pathology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, prion biology or vector biology. A minimum of one-year work experiences is also preferred. The successful candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
The successful candidate must demonstrate U.S. employment eligibility at time of application; CSU will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
