Salary: Hourly wage for these positions is $15.53/hour and no benefits.
Requirements: Several Teaching Aide positions are available in the Professional Veterinary Medical program at Colorado State University which will support the program’s Foundations in Clinical Practices course.

A bachelor’s degree in a biomedical science area OR the substitution of an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology (or its equivalent) with five to ten years of veterinary clinical experience OR the substitution of at least ten years of veterinary technician on-the-job training in a certified clinic is required. The successful applicants must have at least one semester of experience teaching as a clinical educator in veterinary medicine and demonstrate skill in physical exam techniques regarding small animals. Veterinary technicians with at least five to ten years of experience working in high quality veterinary practices (such as AAHA certified practices) that have demonstrated ability as good communicators and clinical instructors will be given preference.

The individuals will be required to assist in the instruction and evaluation of veterinary students in the performance of physical, ophthalmologic, dermatologic, cardiologic, and pain assessment exams of small animals. They must help to evaluate these student exams in a clinical setting. They are expected to implement the guidelines set in the student syllabus.

All positions are temporary and are not benefit eligible. Positions are for one semester with the potential of continuing the following semester. Hours worked are approximately 2-6 hours per week depending on the employee’s schedule as well as the need for clinical educators for the courses for that semester. The course runs approximately 8-9 weeks per semester and there is a 2-3 hour orientation at the beginning of each semester as well as a one hour introduction class period that aides are required to attend. Hours preparing outside of the class environment will be paid. Hourly wage for these positions is $15.53/hour and no benefits. Requirements: The CSU Health Network at Colorado State University is recruiting for a Staff Psychiatrist. This is a full-time, exempt, Administrative Professional position.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The position of Staff Psychiatrist serves at the CSU Health Network and reports to the Director of Psychiatry. The main function of the position is to care for patients with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions including substance use problems. The position collaborates with others within and outside of the CSU Health Network to ensure that patients receive optimal care.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides outpatient adult and adolescent psychiatric evaluations, medication management and brief psychotherapy. Responsible for psychiatric patient assessments, analyzing patient conditions, ordering medical testing and providing interpretation of same, documenting findings and initiating patient care plans
• Responsible for assessing progress of patients and modifying treatment accordingly
• Completes electronic medical record documentation on time
• Evaluates and institutes emergency hospitalization procedures of patients in crisis for their safely and stabilization
• Refers patients to community psychiatric practitioners or clinics as necessary
• Serves as physician mentor for one or more psychiatric nurse practitioners at CSU Health Network
• Works with psychiatric nurses for care coordination, medication refills and/or drug assistance program
• Consults with and advises the Counseling Services and medical care providers at the CSU Health Network regarding patients with special problems in accordance with established guidelines
• Collaborates with other CSU entities that impact student care as well as other community healthcare professionals
• Participates in required meetings and educational activities. Active involvement in presenting relevant topics is encouraged. Participates on appropriate CSU Health Network and University committees.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:
• Eligibility to obtain or a possession of a current Colorado physician license
• Board certification or board eligible in psychiatry
• A current DEA number
• Demonstrated experience with electronic medical records and computer use

Preferred:
• At least one year of clinical experience is highly desirable
• Experience working as a psychiatrist with a college age population is highly desirable
• Personal and professional commitment to diversity as demonstrated by involvement in teaching, research, creative activity, service to the profession and/or diversity/inclusion activities
• Experience to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery setting that includes primary health care providers and counselors

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Excellent clinical skills in psychiatry, including management of acute and chronic patients with a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses.
• Knowledge of principles and methods of health care for the college age population including diagnosis and treatment of mental/emotional disturbances, modern methods and principles of psychiatry, general medicine and neurology, and skill in their application
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including compassionate delivery of care
• Interest in the wellness of students and their family members and respect for the role of patients in the decision-making process
• Ability to develop and maintain good rapport with patients and staff
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with policies of the CSU Health Network, Colorado State University, state, federal and HIPAA requirements

Compensation:
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. This is a university benefits eligible position.
