Title: Teaching Aides - Open Pool

Requirements: Several Teaching Aide positions are available in the Professional Veterinary Medical program at Colorado State University which will support the program’s Foundations in Clinical Practices course.

A bachelor’s degree in a biomedical science area OR the substitution of an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology (or its equivalent) with five to ten years of veterinary clinical experience OR the substitution of at least ten years of veterinary technician on-the-job training in a certified clinic is required. The successful applicants must have at least one semester of experience teaching as a clinical educator in veterinary medicine and demonstrate skill in physical exam techniques regarding small animals. Veterinary technicians with at least five to ten years of experience working in high quality veterinary practices (such as AAHA certified practices) that have demonstrated ability as good communicators and clinical instructors will be given preference.

The individuals will be required to assist in the instruction and evaluation of veterinary students in the performance of physical, ophthalmologic, dermatologic, cardiologic, orthopedic and neurologic exams of small animals. They must help to evaluate these student exams in a clinical setting. They are expected to implement the guidelines set in the student task booklet and the student syllabus.

All positions are temporary and are not benefit eligible. Positions are for one semester with the potential of continuing the following semester. Hours worked are approximately 2-6 hours per week depending on the employee’s schedule as well as the need for clinical educators for the courses for that semester. The course runs approximately 8-9 weeks per semester and there is a 2-3 hour orientation at the beginning of each semester as well as a one hour introduction class period that aides are required to attend. Hours preparing outside of the class environment will be paid. Hourly wage for these positions is $15/hour and no benefits.

Requirements: The Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Colorado State University is offering a one-year Specialty Internship in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care. The Emergency and Critical Care Intern will have clinical and teaching responsibilities within the Small Animal Emergency, Urgent Care and Critical Care Services. The 12-month appointment will consist of a fifty (50) week clinical assignment with two (2) weeks paid vacation. Position must be available for swing shift, overnights and weekends. Some “out” rotations will be available. Direct mentorship will be provided by a total of four ACVECC diplomats as well as two residency-trained ECC clinicians. Position will report to the Small Animal Chief of Staff.

Minimum qualifications for this position include a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and successful completion of a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship.
