Requirements: The Department of Chemistry seeks applications from chemistry instructors who are interested in temporary and special teaching positions at Colorado State University. A Masters Degree is required, with a Ph.D. Degree strongly preferred. The Instructor in Chemistry will contribute to the Department of Chemistry at Colorado State University through a range of activities. The major commitment will be teaching undergraduate courses or supervising laboratory instruction as appropriate to the instructor’s background and the needs of the department. In addition, the instructor is expected to demonstrate interest in improving teaching and learning in the department through other activities. Requirements: The University Honors Program is establishing an applicant pool for Temporary Part-Time Instructors for openings in the spring 2013 and fall 2013 semesters. Honors instructors teach interdisciplinary Honors seminars as part of the Honors core curriculum.

The University Honors Program offers its instructors a wonderful opportunity to teach an interdisciplinary Honors seminar on a topic of their choice. Teaching an Honors seminar can be a most rewarding experience because of the excellent students, small classes, and interdisciplinary seminar format. Honors students have impressive records of academic achievement and are intellectually curious and highly motivated. The Honors seminar sections range between 19 and 22 students and the small class size creates an optimal learning environment for students and faculty alike.

Each Honors seminar integrates several All-University Core Curriculum requirements such as Written Communication, Historical Perspectives, Arts/Humanities, Social/Behavioral Sciences, and Global and Cultural Awareness. A Ph.D. or other terminal degree and evidence of excellence in teaching are required. Experience in teaching interdisciplinary seminars and/or Honors seminars, is preferred. The target salary is approximately $4,800 per 3-credit seminar section.
