There are several levels of appointment. Level I is for individuals generally within three years of receiving their Ph.D. and with limited scientific research experience. Level II is analogous to the Assistant Professor title for regular faculty. It generally includes people with three to seven years of experience beyond the Ph.D. level and with very significant professional accomplishments.
Level III is analogous to the Associate Professor title for regular faculty. It generally includes individuals with more than seven years of experience beyond the Ph.D., and with extremely significant professional accomplishments. The Senior level is analogous to the full Professor title for regular faculty. It generally includes individuals well beyond the Ph.D. that have demonstrated outstanding, sustained, and extraordinary professional accomplishments as well as professional leadership.

Ranking and qualifications within the levels are done on a case-by-case basis with factors that include the publication record, past research funding, professional honors and awards, decisive discoveries, and management experience. Requirements: CSU Events & Constituent Engagement advances the relationships, brand messages, and fundraising goals of Colorado State University through the production of impeccable experiences designed to tell the University’s story. The Assistant Director for Alumni & Athletics Events serves as the department’s primary liaison to the CSU Athletics Department and the CSU Alumni Association, with overall responsibility for the two areas’ event portfolios. Collaborative in nature, the position requires flexibility, creativity, attention to detail, and adherence to the highest standards of service excellence. This position will require working nights and weekends on a regular basis in addition to event-related travel. The Assistant Director is a regular 12-month appointment, and the full-time, benefited position reports to the Executive Director of CSU Events & Constituent Engagement.

LS0041 Bio/Pharmaceutical Production Specialist I

Job Descriptions:
The category of Bio/Pharmaceutical Production (also known as Bio/Pharmaceutical Manufacturing) provides services that facilitate the production of specialized products under controlled, FDA-regulated conditions. Bio/Pharmaceutical Production employees are to be capable of performing both physical and administrative activities. Candidates are encouraged to apply to these positions should their background and experiences match the requirements as described below.

Bio/Pharmaceutical Production Specialist I: This position is open to individuals that have an understanding of scientific concepts but are novices to the Bio/Pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Higher education degree (two or four year) in a biology/biotech/chemistry type field is suggested. The position supports production activities of a cGMP manufacturing campaign and individuals are given direction from senior staff. Employees in this category must have the ability to clearly and efficiently communicate with others. Employee must be able to physically work in rooms that require specialized manufacturing gowning. Employee must have basic microbiological laboratory skills or equivalent. Employee may perform other duties as required.
•Assist in the implementation of manufacturing processes, including purification steps and sample testing methods in to production campaigns.
•Perform laboratory support activities in a timely and concise way.
•Ability to take instructions in the manufacturing room and be able to delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
•Perform both simple and complex laboratory procedures such as cell culture, protein purifications, DNA/RNA manipulations, immunohistochemistry, and other laboratory methods.
•Support in the creation of controlled documents such as specification sheets, production records, protocols, reports, SOPs and other directive documents.
•Takes responsibility for maintaining material inventories for manufacturing use. May be required to supervise others.
•Supports the maintenance of the ISO status as well as the clean room status of each of the GMP room. This involves the physical cleaning of floors, walls, ceilings, equipment and other surface areas in these controlled rooms.
•Required to manage and record non-batch card laboratory activities daily in project-specific laboratory notebooks under GDP.

Employment Type:
The job title categories within this pool are for positions (when available) that are within a range of 0.5-1.0 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) effort (i.e., 50-100% work effort). Hiring into a particular position at a specific FTE effort is based on the availability of task-specific funds and one’s skill set. Requirements: The Department of Biomedical Sciences: This interdisciplinary department contains over 25 faculty with strong international reputations and a track record of extramural support. Faculty research interests are focused in cellular, molecular and integrative biology, reproductive biology including gonadal function, and neurobiology with relevant emphasis in areas related to neuronal differentiation, degeneration and regeneration, ion channels and membrane physiology, synaptic mechanisms, neuronal circuitry, sensory biology, artificial neural networks, and neuroendocrinology. The department is highly interactive and offers postdoctoral fellows a friendly but rigorous learning environment. There is ample opportunity for informal interactions between fellows and faculty, thus encouraging the kind of discussions and collaborations that are critical to success in the cutting-edge atmosphere of modern biomedical research. Program faculty members are housed in modern research buildings with state-of-the-art equipment. All of the training faculty members have laboratories that are within relatively close proximity. University facilities that support research efforts include electron microscopes, flow cytometer and fluorescent activated cell sorter, confocal microscopes, DNA, RNA and protein sequencing and syntheses labs, a mass spectrometer lab, and facilities for genomics, preoteomics, and transgenic animal research. The CIF laboratories are equipped with many other tools and instruments supporting its research support mission to chemistry-affiliated projects on campus and in the surrounding community. The successful candidate will join a dedicated group of six other research scientists and support personnel responsible for instruments and equipment in five other labs that are involved in all aspects of the chemical and physical characterization of compounds, bulk materials, thin films and surfaces. These include ultra-high vacuum systems, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) in myriad forms, physical property measurements (PPMS and SQUID-MPMS), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and other probe-based imaging techniques, optical spectroscopy (IR, UV-Vis-NIR, VASE), thermal analysis (DSC, TGA), mass spectrometry (GCMS, LCMS, FTMS) and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR and EPR).

All instruments in the CIF are available for use by the successful candidate, who will be expected to collaborate with colleagues, other staff scientists, faculty and other principal investigators to advance CSU’s primary research, education and service mission. As mentioned previously, EMIS responsibilities will include routine maintenance of the HR-TEM/STEM and other assigned equipment and the training of new users, as well as user-manual preparation and providing data for a various projects. Collaborations with senior investigators is expected. Contributions to shared instrument proposals will also be expected. Other instruments may be assigned as the need or opportunity arises and will be determined by the CIF Director.

The successful EMIS candidate must have a Ph.D. in a chemistry-related discipline, and some expertise with hard materials will be considered advantageous. Hands-on familiarity with UHV, HR-TEM, STEM and other X-ray imaging and spectroscopy techniques is required. Familiarity with EELS, lithography, and focused ion-beam milling will be considered advantageous. Experience with JEOL Instrumentation in particular is also an advantage. The ability to write and communicate clearly, as well as to think and work independently will be vital. Independent and collaborative research is encouraged.

They must help to evaluate these student exams in a clinical setting. They are expected to implement the guidelines set in the student task booklet and the student syllabus.

All positions are temporary and are not benefit eligible. Positions are for one semester with the potential of continuing the following semester. Hours worked are approximately 2-6 hours per week depending on the employee’s schedule as well as the need for clinical educators for the courses for that semester. Duties include a variety, molecular biology techniques, cell biology studies, synthetic gene construction, bacterial expression, production and analysis of transgenic plants, planning experimental approaches based on research literature, and interpreting results. The successful individuals will be self-motivated and capable of independent thought and research. Projects most often involve environmental and resource economics, and/or regional economics, and one or more of the following types of work: data collection, management and analysis; survey work; mathematical and econometric modeling; report writing and article co-authorship; oral presentations; communication with stakeholders. Master’s degree in economics or other relevant field preferred; specific additional qualification requirements will depend on the nature of each project. For most projects, a minimum 1-year commitment is desired.
