Work Location: Field sites throughout Colorado
Duration: 3-6 months

Summary of Positions:
The Colorado Natural Heritage Program has temporary field technician positions available. Research Associates are needed to survey for mammals, amphibians, birds, reptiles, and invertebrates. The field technician should expect to camp in developed and/or undeveloped sites. Occasional nights in motels or rented houses within project areas may also be provided. Specific study sites will be in various locations throughout the state. These positions will require extensive travel and long days in the field. These positions may involve properly collecting and preparing specimens for identification when appropriate. The employment dates for these positions will be approximately from May 1, 2013 through October 31,
2013 and will vary depending upon project.

Minimum Qualifications:
• B.S. degree in zoology, biology, natural resources, ecology, or related field experience (at least 2 years of field surveys).
• Ability to use a dichotomous key to identify animal species required,
• Ability to navigate in remote, areas using topographic maps, compass, and GPS required,
• Experience collecting quantitative and qualitative field data in remote settings required,
• Ability and willingness to navigate using 4WD vehicles and hike off-trail in remote areas over rugged terrain for much of the field season required, and
• Ability to work long hours in the field is required.

Potential Projects:
• General inventory for rare animals; various locations throughout Colorado
• Inventory of rare animals on Colorado State Land Board Stewardship Trust Lands - statewide
• Preble’s meadow jumping mouse monitoring in central Colorado
• Boreal toad survey and breeding site monitoring, central mountains Colorado
• Amphibian surveys, central and northern mountains Colorado
• Rare mammal surveys (incl. bats, shrews, small mammals) central and northern mountains Colorado

Job description of the QA Specialist II position:
Under the direction of senior Quality Assurance (QA) staff members, QA Specialist II is responsible for basic QA activities to support the ongoing quality system and cGMP campaign activities. Must be able to review and audit documentation for compliance to good documentation practices and to the technical requirements of directive documents (SOPs, protocols, directive documents, etc.). The QA Specialist II reviews testing, quality control, development study and other reports/data-forms for accuracy, completeness and compliance to requirements to ensure that QA standards and regulatory requirements are met. Assist the organization with change control procedures and events. Reviews QA standards, studies existing policies and procedures, and interacts with personnel and clients to evaluate effectiveness of QA program and assists in writing QA policies and procedures. Participates in internal and external audits and assists departments with the coordination of audit information, and recommends appropriate improvement/mitigations. Assists with the monitoring of incidents and CAPAs; supports the mitigation, closure and archiving plans for incidents/CAPAs as well as all other documentation of the organization. Keeps the Director informed of the status of the quality system and unusual occurrences.

Candidates should have knowledge of commonly-used QA concepts, practices, and procedures within cGMP field and is responsible for improving one’s knowledge base of current QA regulations and for informing the Director of any new and/or revised regulations. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job, but also have the ability to think critically and work independently; must have above average communication skills (writing and speaking) and be responsible for supporting a healthy working environment between other departments where QA is concerned. May oversee personnel engaged in QA support activities. Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

Requires a bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of full-time experience in the field or in a related area

Requirements: The Department of Biomedical Sciences: This interdisciplinary department contains over 25 faculty with strong international reputations and a track record of extramural support. Faculty research interests are focused in cellular, molecular and integrative biology, reproductive biology including gonadal function, and neurobiology with relevant emphasis in areas related to neuronal differentiation, degeneration and regeneration, ion channels and membrane physiology, synaptic mechanisms, neuronal circuitry, sensory biology, artificial neural networks, and neuroendocrinology. The department is highly interactive and offers postdoctoral fellows a friendly but rigorous learning environment. There is ample opportunity for informal interactions between fellows and faculty, thus encouraging the kind of discussions and collaborations that are critical to success in the cutting-edge atmosphere of modern biomedical research. Requirements: The Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Colorado State University is offering a one-year Specialty Internship in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care. The Emergency and Critical Care Intern will have clinical and teaching responsibilities within the Small Animal Emergency, Urgent Care and Critical Care Services. The 12-month appointment will consist of a fifty (50) week clinical assignment with two (2) weeks paid vacation. Position must be available for swing shift, overnights and weekends. Some “out” rotations will be available. Direct mentorship will be provided by a total of four ACVECC diplomats as well as two residency-trained ECC clinicians. Position will report to the Small Animal Chief of Staff.

Minimum qualifications for this position include a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and successful completion of a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship.

RANK AND SALARY:

The Office of University Advancement Development at Colorado State University System seeks a full-time Donor Relations Coordinator to serve the Principal Gifts Team. The Principal Gifts Team serve as university ambassadors to develop relationships and connect constituents throughout the country and internationally with CSU to match the constituent’s philanthropic intent with the greatest needs of the university. The team has university-wide fundraising responsibilities for their region and assists the eight colleges, athletics and the library in meeting their private fundraising priorities and objectives. RESPONSIBIITIES and DUTIES:
• Donor management:
o Coordinate and set up donor/prospect meetings, create briefs and handle necessary follow up.
o Manage complex systems of donor identification, cultivation, and solicitation.
o Pull numbers weekly for review by the Regional Directors of Development (RDODs) (dollars raised, Denver Initiative information, pipeline and effort reports, etc.).
• Database management:
o Code event attendees, enter contact reports and internal bio updates, add new entities, code prospects and take care of other data maintenance as required.
• Meeting/event coordination:
o Manage event attendees, hosted guests for events and campus tours, and manage of all associated details (briefs, reservations, etc.).
• Administrative:
o Handle general copying, scanning of documents for electronic record keeping, routing and tracking of documents for signatures (internal travel, CSU Foundation forms, etc.), shredding, and filing.
• Accounting and travel:
o Assist with travel details as required.
o Initiate travel reimbursements, official function procedures (receipts), and internal purchase orders with appropriate colleagues.
• Events:
o Work with Principal Gift Team to define purpose for regional events, establish invitation parameters, and act as a liaison with University Events for events hosted by Principal Gifts and track expenses and subsequent giving by attendees.
o Coordinate attendance at university events for out of state visitors (football games, 1870 dinner, alumni functions, etc.).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Demonstrates strong written communication skills.
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills, experience tracking multiple projects.
• Skill to use a personal computer and computer software programs at the level of sophistication required for the development office; proven ability to use MS Office and database management.

Summary of All Positions:

The Colorado Natural Heritage Program at Colorado State University seeks experienced ecology and botany field technicians for summer field work on several vegetation inventory projects. The projects are located at the Niobrara National Scenic River and Missouri National Recreation River in north central Nebraska, and The Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area in south central Montana and north central Wyoming. The work entails vegetation sampling and all positions require field botany or field ecology skills. Knowledge of plant taxonomy and species identification required. Experience identifying flora of the area is preferred. A crew lead position is available to suitably qualified candidates.

Successful applicants will work in groups of two to sample vegetation communities in support of these vegetation inventory and map accuracy assessment projects. Field technicians will be based in housing near the project site and work will entail a combination of daytrips and multi-day backpack, canoe, or car camping trips. Crews will navigate daily to randomly selected sites to establish plot locations and document plant community characteristics. Many sample locations will be in remote areas of the park.

Duties
1. Work with a partner to use GPS to navigate to plot locations and collect data on species and plant communities present. Requires the ability to reliably identify plants and plant communities of the project area, identify dominant species and community structure, and document presence of exotic or rare species,
2. Reliably locate field plots, complete field forms, operate and maintain GPS units, digital cameras, and other field equipment, and effectively manage collected data,
3. Enter and maintain data in electronic formats (databases, spreadsheets, GP GIS),
4. Thoroughly document all fieldwork using field notebooks, survey forms, maps, GPS, and digital cameras.

Qualifications:
A degree in botany or ecology, natural resources, range management, forestry, or related field, or 3 years of equivalent field experience is required. Preference will be given to candidates with previous field experience, and experience with the regional flora of the project area.

1. Knowledge of dichotomous botanical keys and field guides, and the major angiosperm plant families;
2. Willingness to travel extensively during field season, work unusual schedules (up to 10 consecutive days), backpack, car camp, and live for an extended period in remote areas;
3. Good physical condition to enable working long hours in the field, traveling off-trail in rough terrain, and working through inclement weather;
4. Experience with aerial photograph and topographic map interpretation;
5. Careful attention to data;
6. Comfort and familiarity with the use of computers;
7. Experience or familiarity with the use of GPS;
8. Experience collecting vegetation and environmental data in the field;
9. Experience with vegetation sampling techniques;
10. Experience with species identification, community classification, or habitat typing;
11. Experience classifying vegetation types.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The person in this position will provide sustainable planning technical expertise in the areas of drinking water, wastewater, storm water, and tank systems to optimize performance, reduce operating costs, and improve environmental regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will support installation, regional and enterprise-wide water quality programs and initiatives focused on the Clean Water Act (CWA), Safe Drinking Water Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Subtitle I.

The successful candidate will provide expertise in pollution prevention and help to develop a training program for newly-deployed web-based tank and water permit management systems. He/she will review, analyze and validate environmental concept designs, scopes of work, reports, and other documents related to wastewater treatment and collection, water treatment and distribution, storm water hydrology and permit management, underground storage tank management, and above ground storage tank management. Tasks will include data collection, statistical analysis, enforcement action critical analysis, developing trend analyses and technical solutions, and providing recommendations for updates to CWA plans and to resolve water quality compliance challenges. Tasks may also include developing strategic investment plans to include, but not limited to, identification of strategic investment opportunities, preparation of project or funding bundling concepts, and execution of approved strategic concepts of operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate must demonstrate U.S. employment eligibility. CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position. A BS/BA degree in physical sciences, engineering, public health and safety, management, or a related field plus three years of related experience, or a MS degree with one year of related experience is required.

The applicant should possess an understanding of and have experience in the basic environmental principals and regulations in current and emerging Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act regulations and permitting requirements. Familiarity with permit application and renewals, and water-related enforcement actions is necessary.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The applicant should have experience developing and presenting training materials. Knowledge of Air Force environmental regulations is desirable. Experience working in highly structured organizations such as governmental agencies, the military, or corporations, with established lines of authority, procedures, and protocols is beneficial. Experience with spill response is a plus. Knowledge of and experience with Emergency Management Systems is desired. The successful candidate must be competent in the use of Microsoft Office including MS Excel.

Duties:
The National Park Service (NPS), Natural Sounds and Night Skies Division (NSNSD) is part of the Natural Resource Stewardship and Science Directorate (NRSS), a Washington, D.C. based office, located in Fort Collins, Colorado. The NSNSD assists park units in monitoring and managing acoustical environments. This position will assist NSNSD staff in collecting and analyzing acoustical data needed to support park management. Data collection will require extended field projects at park units; data analysis will require intensive analytical work. Applicants must be adaptable, available for extensive travel, capable of working in wilderness, and possess a keen interest in engineering or scientific analysis.

The incumbent’s primary duties include:

Fieldwork:
1. Collect acoustical and meteorological data at remote field sites. Manage logistical preparations; identify suitable locations for placing equipment; set up, calibrate, and maintain equipment; maintain detailed field observation logs; diagnose equipment failures and effect repairs; recover and refurbish equipment; retrieve data and ensure secure archiving.

Data Processing:
1. Process acoustical data to identify sound sources and extract quantitative measures relevant to park unit management issues.
2. Write reports summarizing the results of acoustic monitoring projects, and conduct verbal presentations to park staff and lay audiences.

The incumbent’s additional responsibilities may include:
1. Data entry and other data formatting as needed to populate acoustics databases.
2. Prepare graphical displays of data and results for technical and lay audiences.
3. Provide technical assistance to park staff and other personnel associated with the Natural Sounds Program.

DESCRIPTION
This is a full-time position working with Institute staff to support the Institute. The coordinator will assist with budgeting and general operations of the Institute. The coordinator will report to the Institute’s Program Assistant, who serves as team leader for budgets and operations. The coordinator will work with the Program Assistant to track expenditures, funds transfers, revenue, and other budget activities; will be responsible for budget reconciliations; and will prepare monthly and annual budget reports for the Associate Vice Provost, who directs the Institute, as well as various Institute program directors as specified by the Associate Vice Provost. The individual in this position will also be responsible for directing general inquiries via the phone and email to appropriate offices within the Institute.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience working with budgets

DESCRIPTION
This full-time position will work with the staff of the Office for Undergraduate Research and Artistry to coordinate student engagement programs in the Institute for Learning and Teaching. The successful candidate will be committed to enhancing undergraduate education and possess strong communication and organizational skills.

• Assist in the Coordination of the Rocky Mountain Sustainability and Science Network (RMSSN): Assist with web updates and program announcements for a network of students, universities, federal agencies, non-profits, and private organizations. The RMSSN Coordinators act as the hub for the network, assist in planning meetings, assist in planning a summer research academy, contribute as an official Partner in the network, assist with the network and student assessment process, serve as the central RMSSN resource for student participants, and coordinate the RMSSN Certificate in Global Leadership and Environmental Sustainability Program.
• Represent the Office at admissions visits, orientation programs, and other university events.
• Coordinate one or more OURA Academies: OURA Academies are interdisciplinary teams of undergraduate researchers working on a common research problem under the direction of a faculty mentor. Academy coordination responsibilities include managing web updates, recruiting faculty mentors, facilitating meetings and activities, and serving as the central resource for groups of 5-10 undergraduate researchers.
• Advise students regarding undergraduate research and artistry opportunities with the goal of increasing the number of students and the quality of their research and artistry experiences in those colleges.
• Supervise undergraduate and/or graduate student staff.
• Other duties as assigned.
