Requirements: The Department of Communication Studies hires Special Assistant Professors/Special Instructors from an applicant pool. Such Special Assistant Professor/Special Instructors may be hired for fall, spring, and/or summer term in a given academic year. They are hired to teach courses in communication studies such as public speaking, popular culture, public argumentation, and group communication. Requirements for this position are a Ph.D. in Communication Studies for Special Assistant Professor rank or M.A. in Communication Studies for Special Instructor rank, experience teaching a specific subject area, and teaching excellence. For those teaching public speaking, experience teaching assignments equivalent or similar to the assignments in Colorado State University’s public speaking course is desirable. Public speaking instructors new to the department must attend public speaking training sessions as determined by the course director. Applicants who are ABD or Ph.D. in hand may be hired to teach additional courses such as interpersonal communication, nonverbal communication, evaluating contemporary television, critical media studies, and film history. For summer teaching, previous experience in teaching public speaking at Colorado State University is required.

Requirements: For post-doctoral positions, a Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell biology plant molecular biology or a related field is required. Ideal applicants will have experience in molecular biology, plant cell biology or gene cloning. Experience in Synthetic Biology, Plant Molecular Biology, Bacterial work, cloning, and/or design of synthetic genes and gene circuits desired. Experience in Biochemistry and protein structure function is valued. Experience with transgenic plants is helpful but not essential. Well-developed skills in written and verbal communication are desirable. The incumbents are expected to interact with other post-docs, graduate students, and undergraduate students. Duties include a variety, molecular biology techniques, cell biology studies, synthetic gene construction, bacterial expression, production and analysis of transgenic plants, planning experimental approaches based on research literature, and interpreting results. Requirements: The Colorado Natural Heritage Program (CNHP) at Colorado State University (CSU) seeks experienced field technicians for summer field work assessing the condition of wetlands throughout the lower South Platte River Basin. All positions require field botany or ecology skills. Knowledge of plant taxonomy and species identification required. Preferred qualifications include experience in wetland ecology, local flora, and familiarity performing field work for long days (10+ hours).

Fieldwork will take place in randomly selected wetlands in urban areas, agricultural areas, and more remote natural areas as part of two wetland condition assessment projects in the lower South Platte River Basin. Standard duties will involve driving and hiking to field sites; in-field plant identification, in-office plant identification with a microscope; detailed completion of field survey forms, landowner interaction; and extensive collection of vegetation, soil, wildlife habitat, and environmental data. Data will be collected using both rapid assessment protocols and more in-depth vegetation surveys.

Faculty research interests are focused in cellular, molecular and integrative biology, reproductive biology including gonadal function, and neurobiology with relevant emphasis in areas related to neuronal differentiation, degeneration and regeneration, ion channels and membrane physiology, synaptic mechanisms, neuronal circuitry, sensory biology, artificial neural networks, and neuroendocrinology. The department is highly interactive and offers postdoctoral fellows a friendly but rigorous learning environment. There is ample opportunity for informal interactions between fellows and faculty, thus encouraging the kind of discussions and collaborations that are critical to success in the cutting-edge atmosphere of modern biomedical research. Program faculty members are housed in modern research buildings with state-of-the-art equipment. All of the training faculty members have laboratories that are within relatively close proximity.
