Title: Instructors in Composition Administration - Open Pool

Requirements: The Department of English hires Instructors in Composition Administration from an applicant pool. Such instructors are hired full time for fall and spring terms in a given academic year. Positions are available in 2014-15 for Instructors in First-Year Composition Administration and Upper-Division Composition Administration.

Instructors in First-Year Composition Administration receive one course release per semester to train and supervise GTAs in CO150 College Composition and collaborate on updating the common CO150 syllabus and course materials. They teach six courses per year in addition, which usually include 100- and 300-level composition. The availability of other courses is based on department need and the instructor’s background.

Instructors in Upper-Division Composition Administration receive one course release per year for administrative and curricular work, including developing professional development workshops and materials. They teach seven courses per year, consisting of 300-level composition courses.

Instructors are expected to meet departmental objectives for the courses they teach.
Requirements for both positions are an MA; a record of college teaching excellence; initiative for composition program development; supervisory experience, preferably in composition program administration; experience developing programmatic and instructional materials; and knowledge of multimodal composition theory and practice. Teaching experience in upper-division composition is required for positions in Upper-Division Composition Program Administration. A PhD, MFA, or ABD is preferred. For positions in First-Year Composition Administration, preference will be given to candidates with academic or scholarly credentials in composition theory and pedagogy or rhetoric and those with recent teaching experience in CSU’s composition program or one similar to it.

Terms of Employment: These distinctive assignments are customarily for three-year terms. Annual reappointment depends on satisfactory performance.

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) at Colorado State University (CSU) seeks to fill a flexible after hours position for the Anesthesia service. The individual in this position will be dedicated to providing after hours/ weekend anesthesia coverage. The primary responsibility is to cover anesthesia for emergency procedures in all species presented to Colorado State University, Veterinary Medical Center. Yearly coverage for afterhours/on call anesthesia will be shared by this posted position, current on call employee and the anesthesia resident. With majority of yearly responsibility and weekly/weekend hours will be shared between this position and our current on-call employee. Holiday coverage will be expected and equally divided between all on-call individuals. This individual will also be responsible for covering any swing shift hours (starting at 4:30 pm weekdays) during their scheduled night of on-call. The ability of the applicant to vary their schedule is essential to their success in this position.

Responsibilities/Duties:
• Physical presence may be required and/or on call beginning at 4:30 pm on weeknights to oversee cases/recovery of patients transitioned from anesthesia swing shift.
o Providing and supervising students in administering appropriate support and monitoring of patients who are still anesthetized at 4:30 pm in both large and small animal anesthesia areas.
o Transitioning and supervising students in transitioning the care of these patients to the appropriate services or the Critical Care Unit.
o Guiding students and clinicians in the selection of appropriate post-operative analgesic drugs or techniques.
• Emergency Coverage
o Be available (by PTT or cellular telephone) and within 20 minutes of the hospital at all times when on duty to provide emergency anesthesia coverage
o Perform and assist the student in performing a thorough and expedient patient evaluation including obtaining the patient history, performing a physical examination, and assessing laboratory finding.
o Select and guide the student in selecting an appropriate anesthetic and analgesic protocol.
o Select and guide the student in selecting appropriate monitoring equipment for the patient.
o Select and guide the student in selecting an appropriate supportive care plan for patient care.
o Be able to provide and guide the student in providing appropriate technical support to meet the objectives stated in above bullets
• Equipment Maintenance and Set-up
o Ensuring the equipment and area is appropriately cleaned and secured at the conclusion of the final case
o Providing a set up for additional coverage
• Schedule;
o 4:30pm – 7am : Monday through Friday
o 7am – 7pm and 7pm –7am : Saturday and Sunday
• Training
o Approximately 2 months
o Flexible schedule
 Day shift
 Night shift

Education/ Work Experience:
Minimum qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree and two years of primary anesthesia experience. A doctor of veterinary medicine is preferred. Preference will be given to individuals with a background in anesthesia or critical care case management. Personal or professional commitment to diversity as demonstrated by persistent effort, active planning, allocation of resources and/or accountability for diversity outcomes preferred.

Reporting Relationship:

This position reports directly to Dr.Pedro Boscan and Amy Rodriguez. Effective communication skills are required to articulate patient management and treatment, and case transfer faculty, staff and other personnel.

The Mycobacteria Research Laboratories at Colorado State University provides an unique opportunity to conduct basic and translational scientific research on mycobacterial diseases. Currently, there are twenty laboratory groups that conduct mycobacterial research on a wide spectrum of topics including mycobacterial physiology and pathogenesis, tuberculosis vaccine and drug development, leprosy and tuberculosis diagnostics, the study of nontuberculous mycobacterial diseases and Buruli ulcer, and the epidemiology and diagnostics of mycobacterial diseases affecting animals including bovine tuberculosis and Johne’s disease.

Our goal is to provide an interactive scientific environment for collaborative research on mycobacterial diseases and to facilitate advanced training of junior scientists and students.
