The Orthopaedic Research Center at Colorado State University is seeking applications to fill a Research Associate II, full time administrative professional position. A minimum of 3 years laboratory experience and a BS degree applicable to the biological or biochemical sciences is required.
We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, team oriented individual who is willing to accept and participate in the day to day operations of the research lab. The person must be willing to complete general laboratory duties including, but not limited to the basic organization/cleaning/maintaining of space, equipment management, and training students. The position requires a person who can multi-task, learn new techniques regularly, work on multiple projects simultaneously, work with staff across a variety of disciplines/specialties, and be semi-independent yet know when to seek assistance. In addition, the ability and willingness to work in a clinical setting and in the arena of live animal studies is essential. The individual must be capable of conducting specialized biochemical and molecular biology based laboratory experiments, histology techniques, and immunohistochemistry. Experience performing basic molecular and biochemical assays, such as basic PCR, real time quantitative PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, cell culture (mammalian, stem cell and tissue explants), ELISA assays and protein gel electrophoresis/western blot analysis is necessary. Previous experience with light/fluorescence microscopy, basic histology, immunohistochemistry and live animal studies are all a plus. Strong verbal communication skills and laboratory record keeping are essential. Written communication skills that support the writing and editing of scientific documents, such as but not inclusive to the ability to write progress reports, present data in table or graphical formats, and write comprehensive material and methods are essential. Salary will be commensurate with experience and education.
