Title: Research Associate I - Industrial Hygiene Consultant

Requirements: The Colorado 21(d) On-Site Consultation Program in the Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences at Colorado State University is accepting applications from qualified individuals to fill an Industrial Hygiene consulting position. This position is classified as a Research Associate I within the University.
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing industrial hygiene assistance to a variety of small businesses in Colorado as stipulated by contract with the United States Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Duties include: Evaluating and implementing comprehensive Health and Safety Programs; conducting hazard audits; assisting small business clients with understanding and complying with industrial hygiene standards and regulations; evaluating and recommending hazard control methods; and, designing and delivering a variety of training programs for employers and employees.
Applicants should have formal education in occupational/industrial hygiene or closely related fields of study. Applicants who do not possess this formal academic preparation will only be considered if they demonstrate significant, relevant experience. The successful applicant will possess excellent oral and written communication skills and a current, valid motor vehicle license (or alternate means of personal transportation). Physical requirements apply and include: lifting up to 40 pounds; sitting/standing for extended periods; using a keyboard; work shifts of up to 14 hours on occasion; climbing stairs and ladders and working on elevated platforms.
It is highly desirable for applicants to have experience with interpretation and implementation of 29 CFR 1910 and 1926. Additional consideration will be given to candidates who are certified by ABIH, have experience in construction health and speak, read and write Spanish. The ability to work in a strong team atmosphere is a desirable attribute as is experience in reviewing, developing and implementing complete health and safety programs. Computer literacy with Windows OS and applications is desirable.
