Colorado State University seeks applicants for the position of Manager, Construction Services Section, reporting to the Asst. Dir., Remodel and Construction Services, Facilities Management. The position develops strategies for executing jobs regarding university infrastructure, construction management, and manages construction teams in jobs regarding instruction and research. Additionally, this position will manage building access services, carpentry, electrical and plumbing services; construction installation of environmental controls, fire system management, HVAC and refrigeration, and labor services. This management position will coordinate with section project managers, staff, contractors, architects & engineers, while directing and instructing personnel. Manager will analyze and define technical issues, products and materials, and establish business plans, goals and processes. Demonstrated knowledge of, and relevant ability with, culturally diverse communities among potential target and constituent populations. • The Manager, Construction Services Section, will supervise personnel, develop performance plans, and evaluate employee performance, implement training requirements and ensure appropriate trades licensing mandates. Additional supervisory duties include assignment of job duties, work load and the determination of staff priorities.
Minimum Qualifications: • Seven years experience, including a minimum of three years in a supervisory and administrative role, directing skilled journey level building trades personnel involved in construction or renovations to include blue print reading, material take offs and estimating. • Skilled journey level experience in one or more of the building trades. (journey level expertise can be demonstrated through valid licensure or four years of experience as journey level HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry, building automation controls technician, fire controls technician, air balance technician, master plumber or master electrician) • Valid driver’s license. State of Colorado driver’s license required within 30 days of employment. Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study. • Experience with several of the functional areas described above. • Knowledge of international building codes. • Sustainability experience. • Experience creating and maintaining a team environment. • Demonstrated experience and success in development of productive relationships with clients and constituents, both internal and external to the University. • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. • Experience in higher education environment. • Four years of experience in developing plans, objectives, and budgets; translating these into strategic objectives, and implementation • Experience with computer usage in a modern management environment with emphasis on scheduling software • Related certifications, ICC, LEED, etc.
