Colorado State University seeks applications and nominations for the position of Kuali Financial System (KFS) Operations Administrator, a leadership position reporting to the Associate Controller in the Business and Financial Services Department. Business and Financial Services exists to maintain and improve the processes which protect the financial integrity of Colorado State University to provide periodic financial information to various users, to support University financial system users, to monitor transaction flow to assure compliance with Federal, State, and University laws, regulation and policies, to analyze and interpret financial data as part of the overall control of University fiscal goals and concerns, and to formulate financial statements and reports in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The KFS Operations Administrator role provides administration of the University financial system, currently KFS. The Administrator monitors KFS to insure accurate system operation, integrity of financial data and success in audits. As the functional expert on KFS, he/she will be the point of contact between the business unit and the Information Systems (IS) KFS Development Team. The role will design and document system updates, workflow and make appropriate recommendations that will positively impact operational effectiveness. The Administrator will be a Project Manager to plan system maintenance and upgrades.
Duties and Responsibilities • Develops and implements plans to meet goals assigned by the Associate Controller and Executive Sponsors. This involves planning and coordinating plan goals based upon priorities and University needs balanced with current projects. • Manages specific application quality assurance and help desk activities from the campus including the tracking of bug reports and change requests and ensuring timely resolution. • Detect and correct errors in University’s accounting system by analyzing daily reports. • Maintains system related tables which support a variety of accounting related functions. • Works with the other units within Business and Financial Services on accounting related issues and projects. • Analyzes discrepancies in system performance and makes recommendations for updates. • Works independently with users to define concepts. • Ensures continuing operational quality by documenting bug fixes and enhancements, assigning tasks to developers, testing and releasing updates. • Provides final signoff to the IS KFS Development Team to release code to production. • Organizes and implements the accounting year-end closing activities by scheduling event deadlines, monitoring progress and discussing issues with affected personnel and departments. • Oversees system security by authorizing access to users by designing and/or modifying security profiles; and adjusts to changing requirements. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group including executives, managers, and subject matter experts (SME). • Meets with project team(s) regularly to review deliverables and deadlines. • Reflecting departmental and institutional values, candidates are expected to have the ability to advance the Department's commitment to diversity and inclusion. • Responsible for the overall success of testing, including results verification and release sign-off. • Serves as the Kuali Foundation conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development team through which requirements flow.
Candidate Qualifications Required: • Bachelor’s Degree • Professional accounting experience • Demonstrated understanding of business and/or accounting software implementation or maintenance • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite Preferred: • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Computer Information Systems • Experience with the Kuali Financial System, Banner, Peoplesoft and/or related size software system • Strong analytical and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements • Demonstrated ability to engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
