RESPONSIBILITIES
The associate will provide environmental compliance technical expertise to review, analyze and validate processes, data, reports and other documents related to underground storage tank and aboveground storage tank management. The associate will also support the Air Force in managing Initial Accumulation Points and waste stream inventories. The associate will ensure hazardous waste storage areas comply with applicable DoD, Air Force, and local regulations. He or she will troubleshoot compliance issues where applicable and will use independent judgment and insight to prepare recommendations and proposals to optimize performance and improve storage tank and hazardous waste compliance programs and influence installation decisions. The associate will develop and input analysis data into electronic spreadsheet and/or databases and will provide input to Environmental Management Systems updates.

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS
The successful candidate must be able to walk over uneven terrain in inclement weather. The position will also require bending, climbing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate must demonstrate U.S. employment eligibility; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must have a B.S. degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline and three years of experience supporting storage tank compliance programs. The successful candidate must have knowledge of and experience with regulations governing hazardous waste management. Previous experience conducting environmental compliance audits and inspections is required. He or she must be able to pass the DoD background check for an AF Common Access Card (CAC). The applicant must have or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
A Master’s degree in a related field is desired. Preferred qualifications include experience working in a highly structured organization and knowledge of military instructions, directives, guidance, and environmental regulations and processes. Experience with compliance tracking programs is a plus, especially Air Force databases such as eDASH and ESOH-MIS.

The federal government and DoD require personnel who access their installations, buildings, and computer systems to have, at a minimum, a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NAC-I). Because the work of this position is physically located at a government/military site, the successful candidate will have a NAC-I performed. Candidates with existing NAC-I are preferred, as an existing NAC-I will quickly qualify the successful candidate to “process-in” for work at a government facility, work on a computer, gain the required access to designated government buildings, and obtain a CAC.

SALARY
Continuation of the position is dependent on the receipt of funding from the sponsor for Storage Tanks and Hazardous Waste Specialist efforts at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.
