A Human Resources Coordinator (non-exempt Administrative Professional) position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). This position will be located at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.
ORGANIZATION CEMML is a research, education and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU). CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DOD) and other public lands. LOCATION Work will be on-site in the city of Fort Collins, population 130,000, which has at various times received recognition as “Best Places to Live” (Money magazine), “Best Places for Business and Career” (Forbes magazine), one of “18 Perfect Towns” (Outside magazine) and “100 Affordable Communities/Best Places to Raise Your Family” (Frommer’s). RESPONSIBILITIES This position serves as a primary day-to-day contact for human resources and employment issues for our 550+ employees working at federal work sites around the country. The incumbent will report directly to the CEMML Director of Human Resources and will perform the following essential functions in addition to other job duties as assigned: 1. Review and process personnel actions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with state and federal regulations and policies. 2. Responsible for technical personnel duties including employment application intake, computer entry and file maintenance, preparing recruitment lists and job postings, maintaining computer employee data information, and establishing various reports and documents. 3. Assist manager with employee/personnel projects. 4. Serve as a resource to employees and managers providing response to human resource related questions and inquiries. 5. Advise, train, and serve as a subject matter expert to CEMML technical staff and management for policies, procedures, objectives, and precedents relating to employment, performance management, position searches, and compliance with state and federal legal requirements. 6. Develop and present materials for orientation of new employees. 7. Identify and represent CEMML at employee recruiting opportunities appropriate to our hiring needs, including coordination of development of recruiting materials. 8. Assist with development and implementation of conferences, short courses, classes and other professional development opportunities for CEMML staff.
MIMINUM QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate must have three years of demonstrated experience in human resources. A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or closely related field is required. Five years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree and the three years of experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills and attention to detail are essential. The successful candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Extensive experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications is necessary.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience working within a large, complex organization and coordinating activities across multiple work sites is desired. Experience with basic human resources related math is beneficial. Working knowledge of Colorado State University’s Human Resources procedures and systems is beneficial.
