Position: The Department of Art at Colorado State University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Graphic Design. This is an entry-level tenure-track position, beginning August 16, 2014. The successful candidate will be appointed untenured and at the rank of Assistant Professor. Reflecting departmental and institutional values, candidates are expected to have the ability to advance the Department's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Applicants must possess an M.F.A. Degree (60 credits) in Graphic Design/Visual Communication, an advanced working knowledge and proficiency in of Mac OS, Adobe Creative Suite and other contemporary design technologies. An active record of creative exhibitions or demonstrable professional recognition is also required.
Preferred qualifications: Applicants should possess first-hand experience of professional practices and standards with an extensive knowledge of Graphic Design history and contemporary movements.
Responsibilities: This position will teach courses at all levels of undergraduate and graduate Graphic Design. Course content may include typography, illustration, and digital media. Duties also include curriculum development in both Graphic Design and foundational computer/technology skills, advising students, contributing to research in the field, participating in local, regional, national, and international forums, as well as service on department, college, and university committees. Leadership in the management, maintenance and on-going development of the department's computer lab's Mac operating system networking environment is included.
Rank/Salary: The successful candidate will be appointed untenured and at the rank of Assistant Professor.
