The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures hires Special Assistant Professors/Special Instructors from an applicant pool. Such Special Assistant Professors/Special Instructors may be hired for fall, spring, and/or summer term in a given academic year. They are hired to teach courses in language acquisition, literature, and culture in the following languages American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Russian, and Spanish. Requirements for this position are a Ph.D. for Special Assistant Professor rank or M.A. for Special Instructor, experience teaching a specific subject area, and demonstrated teaching excellence. Near-native fluency and experience teaching the language or literature are preferred. For summer teaching, previous experience teaching at Colorado State University is required.
