The College of Liberal Arts is seeking a Chair of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures for a term beginning July 1, 2014. This is a twelve-month appointment at a salary that is the twelve-month equivalent of the individual’s nine-month salary plus three summer months plus an administrative increment of $5000.
As this is an internal search, the individual must be an advanced associate or full professor with tenure in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Colorado State University at the time of appointment. Other desired qualifications are:
• Ability to prepare, administer, and adhere to departmental budgets; • Demonstrated effective interpersonal as well as oral and written communication skills; • Demonstrated excellence in research/scholarly activities as well as teaching. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals and interpersonal styles; • Experience with departmental personnel and policy, including service on departmental committees; • Demonstrated administrative skills; • Evidence of both ideas and skills necessary to move the department forward on a path that is consistent with the strategic plans of the University and the College; • Willingness to promote departmental and college advancement and development activities, including contact with alumni and potential donors; • Commitment to support faculty in research and grant development; and • Commitment to promoting diversity in recruitment of faculty, staff, and students.
